Volta River Authority Interview Expectations

The hiring process at Volta River Authority involves a series of different interviews which include:

  • A phone interview. Phone interviews are conducted via the telephone and usually last about 30 minutes. The candidate will be asked a series of basic questions like the availability to work, the salary requirements, experience, the reason for the desire to work at the company, duties, and responsibilities etc. If the phone interview is successful, the candidate will be asked to either complete a video interview or meet for a formal in-person interview.
  • A video interview. There are two types of video interviews, a live one, and a pre-recorded one. A live video interview involves using Skype, or a similar program. It’s as simple as that. It can take 40-60 minutes to complete. A pre-recorded video interview involves employers sending you a link to an interview platform which contains pre-determined interview questions. Here, you will have a chance to briefly view the question before you record and submit your answer.
  • Several in-person interviews. Face-to-face (or in-person) interviews are a series of interviews, usually three, with multiple people. These will include the HR representative, your direct superior and the head of the department.
  • You may be required to go through a technical interview. In a technical interview, interviewers will be assessing the extent of your technical knowledge. This will be the knowledge base required to thrive in the job, as well as an understanding and interest in different technologies and the industry. They might also test how you can practically apply that knowledge to real working situations.
  • A group interview. In a group interview you, and up to 10 more people, will be asked questions, in turn, by multiple interviewers. Each candidate will be asked between 5-10 questions. Sometimes candidates will be grouped together to participate in a group exercise, like solving a case study or making a presentation.

The Testing Process at Volta River Authority

During the hiring process at Volta River Authority, you will come across several tests with a varying degree of complexity and they will include the following:

  • A numerical reasoning test. A numerical reasoning teste generally refers to tests in which more than just basic arithmetic is involved. There are four major topics covered on these tests – word problems, number series, tables and graphs and sufficiency questions.
  • English tests. These are used during the job application process, among other tests, depending on the skills needed and the job itself. These tests assess general language skills and specific fields like Vocabulary, Grammar, Spelling and more.
  • An abstract reasoning test. An abstract reasoning, or figural reasoning, test is used to assess the candidate’s ability to critically evaluate the problem. In these questions, you will be given a pair of shapes which introduce a certain relationship. You must then choose the missing shape that would complete the new pair of shapes that display the same relationship.
  • A personality test. The purpose of this test is to assess the match between your personal profile and the required job profile, and thus to screen out candidates whose personality profiles are incompatible with that of the position being filled. While the job interview examines your overt behaviour, the personality test aims to reach deeper and expose those areas you might not be aware of, thereby providing recruiters with a more comprehensive profile of your personality.
  • A verbal reasoning test. A verbal reasoning test aims to introduce you to a higher level of reading comprehension tests. These contain passages followed by multiple-choice questions. You’ll be asked to mark a single correct answer out of available answer choices.

There are some common, general interview questions that may pop up during your hiring process, which may include the following:
