The Hiring Process at Rosneft

The hiring process can take 3 weeks or more. During this time, you will be required to participate in tests and be interviewed by multiple people. The company looks for people with the following skills:

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Effective organizational, planning and prioritization skills
  • Leadership and supervisory capabilities.

The Interviews at Rosneft

The interviews have 3 sections: one general interview with the HR department, an English test, and a technical interview. There could be up to six interviews in total.

  • some of the interviews can begin by interviewers posing a question, challenge, or situation that candidates are expected to solve. In this scenario, candidates are given background information and are then expected to ask interviewers questions that will help them either understand the issue (by collecting more information) or solve the problem.
  • In a technical interview, you will be asked questions of a technical nature. Whilst these depend on the actual position you are applying for, the important thing to remember is that you are being assessed on the skills that you are going to need to demonstrate for the actual job. This being the case, ensure that your skills are up to scratch.

Common Interview Questions

Some of the questions may include:

  • Where do you see yourself in five years?
  • Tell me about yourself.
  • What major challenges and problems have you faced? How did you handle them?
  • Describe a difficult work situation/project and how you overcame it.
  • What have you learned from your mistakes?
  • What was it like working with your supervisor?

The Tests at Rosneft

Apart from the interviews, there are several tests that you'll be required to take. This will test your numerical, verbal, reasoning and technical skills.

  • A numerical reasoning test includes a wide range of aptitude tests, varying from basic arithmetic tests and advanced numerical reasoning tests. 
  • The logic of this test is quite different from the logic that governs most verbal reasoning tests. It greatly relies on critical thinking and pure logic, rather than simple verbal reasoning.
  • English aptitude tests assess general language skills and specific fields like Vocabulary, Grammar, Spelling and more.
  • The Cognitive Ability Test has between 20-50 questions, and it combines various popular cognitive evaluation questions. Such as logic questions, math word problems, verbal syllogisms, spatial reasoning questions, abstract reasoning questions, and more.
