What Are the Stages of the KPMG Application Process?

All in all, there are four stages you must pass through to receive an offer from KPMG. We will go through each of these stages below in more detail.

KPMG Application Form

This is a fairly basic application in which you must detail your work experience. In addition, there are a number of questions about your motivation to work for KPMG. Be sure to answer them completely and to craft your answers so that they exhibit the KMPG behavioural capabilities every candidate is expected to demonstrate.

KPMG Aptitude Tests

There are two different KPMG aptitude tests you must pass in order for your application to be taken forward. They are the game-based assessment, called theme park hero, and the values inventory, more commonly known as the KPMG personality test.

KPMG Video Interview

The KPMG video interview is about 10 minutes long and focuses on the behavioural capabilities of KPMG.

KPMG Assessment Centre

If you have done well enough in the previous stages, you will be invited to attend a KPMG assessment centre. In essence, this is just a KPMG interview as there are no other tasks to complete.

What Are the Different KPMG Tests I Have to Take?

As stated above, you must complete two KPMG aptitude tests to move to the next stage of the application. Both of these tests are provided by Revelian.

In the game-based-assessment, you play the role of park manager and must complete four games or tasks. The water park designer features a puzzle with Tetris-like shapes which you have to fit into the allotted space, testing your spatial reasoning abilities. The Balloon Stall shows you a series of words, and you need to name the colour the words are written in. The Blueprints section requires you to recreate an image which has been broken into squares. And Tricky Token is a test of your mental math skills.

The second test is called the values inventory, and it is a type of personality test. You are presented with different words and statements and must decide which of these traits is most like you. You have 20 questions to answer. Although the test is untimed, it shouldn’t take you more than about 10 minutes to complete. Understanding how to answer questions the right way in a personality test is a skill you can master, thereby showing your best side to the company without actually saying anything that isn’t true. What Is the KPMG Video Interview?

The KPMG video interview is approximately 10 minutes long and is conducted through the KPMG hub. This is a fairly relaxed interview and it exists for two reasons: to get to know you and to see with a cursory glance if you demonstrate the KPMG behavioural competencies. The KPMG video interview isn’t like an in-person interview. Therefore, you need to master different skills to show your best side during it:

  • Be aware of your posture – As you answer each question, be sure to stand or sit up straight. Don’t fidget as this will make you appear nervous and unprofessional.
  • Look into the camera – You want to make as much eye contact as possible (as you would in a face-to-face interview), so try not to look at your own reflection/image or let your eyes wander about the room.
  • Prepare the space – Sit in a clean and quiet environment as this will help you look prepared and professional.
  • Test your equipment – Be sure that your microphone and camera work.
  • Dress for the interview – Although you might be in the comfort of your own home during a video interview, employers do not want to see you in your pyjamas. This is still an important and vital interview, so dress the part.
  • Be prepared – Have your resume or CV on hand as you might need to reference it throughout the conversation. Additionally, have rough paper on hand in case the interviewer mentions valuable information.

Preparing for the KPMG Partner Interview

The KPMG assessment centre is merely a panel interview. The panel normally consists of three upper management personnel. It is about 45 minutes long and focuses on the KMPG behavioural capabilities.
