Data Analytics
This section of the EY One Assessment is a combination of 1 situational judgment test (SJT) and 2 Written Response tasks.
You will be equipped with several information sources on top of the page and three questions underneath.
These data sources include customer feedback, financial reports, an email with a task, and data tables and graphs. They will remain at the top of the screen throughout the test, so you can return if needed.
While the SJT questions will try to assess how you feel about such a task, the written response questions will assess your ability to gather insights and summarize data from integrating the different information sources.
This section is untimed and takes approximately 20 minutes.
Let's take a look at one such Written response task. While this question includes numerical variables, the actual test also includes emails and verbal data sources.
Use these tabs to see the different graphs and tables:
Using the data supplied, craft a summary highlighting valuable insights. Use up to 1000 characters.
The EY One Assessment will include several such questions, evaluating your ability to reach conclusions based on different data sources, summarizing and taking into consideration specific requirements from the colleague "handing" you the task. Solving such questions will require you to consider the person giving you the assignment, his role, and the different parties that your responses may influence.
Delivering Results
This section of the EY One Assessment focuses on SJT and aims to evaluate how well you fit in with EY's culture and values.
Your sole information source is an email, and you will be presented with a series of statements regarding a work-related situation.
You will need to rank the different response options according to how you are likely to act.
You will have 3 items to address.
There is no time limit, and it takes about 10 minutes to complete.
Let’s see how it looks –
You have been assigned to a new project at EY and will be attending your first team meeting.
How would you approach the meeting in order to make a positive impression and contribute effectively?
Rank order the options below, with 1 being the approach you are most likely to take and 5 being the approach you are least likely to take.
The best ranking in this scenario is –
Forming Conclusions
This section of the EY One Assessment combines SJT, Written, and Recorded Response questions. It assesses your approach to dealing with obstacles and misunderstandings in data-oriented tasks.
You will be equipped with several information sources on top of the page and three questions underneath.
These data sources include financial reports, data tables, and graphs. They will remain at the top of the screen throughout the test, so you can return if needed.
You will have 3 items to address.
You will have 2.5 minutes to prepare for the Recorded Response task and 2 minutes to record your response.
Making Connections
This section of the EY One Assessment combines SJT and Recorded Response questions. It assesses your abilities to engage colleagues within EY as well as external contacts.
Similar to the previous section, you will have an email as your sole information source.
Note that the first Recorded Response task will have a preparation time limit of 3 minutes, and the second — 2.5 minutes.
You will have 3 items to address, no time limit and it takes about 15 minutes.
Using the detailed interactive SJT guide within our PrePack, find out how to best respond to every scenario according to the position you applied for.
EY Numerical Reasoning
The EY Numerical test, provided by Cappfinity, assesses your ability to understand, analyse, and interpret numerical information.
You will be presented with numerical data in the form of word problems, tables, charts, and graphs, and you will be asked to perform calculations based on this information.
The question format varies, with some being multiple-choice while others are open-ended, which requires you to enter the answer manually.
You are allowed to use a calculator, pen, and paper.
You will have 12 questions to answer with no time limit. It takes approximately 20 minutes.
You predict a 25% increase in revenue in the upcoming first quarter of the year, and a 10% increase in revenue for all other three quarters.
Assuming your predictions will be realised, what will be the smallest difference between any two quarters' revenues in the upcoming year?
Quarter | Revenue |
---|---|
Q1, Jan - Mar | 34,844 |
Q2, Apr - Jun | 48,760 |
Q3, Jul - Sep | 62,220 |
Q4, Oct - Dec | 54,020 |
First, calculate the new revenues according to the predictions:
• Q1, +25% = 34,844 * 1.25 = 43,555
• Q2, +10% = 48,760 * 1.10 = 53,636
• Q3, +10% = 62,220 * 1.10 = 68,442
• Q4, +10% = 54,020 * 1.10 = 59,422
The question asks for the smallest difference between any two revenues during a quarter. You can roughly tell that the closest revenues are Q2 and Q4.
Their difference is: 59,422 - 53,636 = 5,786.
The correct answer is '5786'.
The questions you will be asked in your EY pre-recorded interview can change according to the position and line of service you applied for. However, in most cases, they will address general information regarding your drives, inspiration within the position, and how you can contribute to the role and the organisation.
These questions can be –
Although not an in-person interview, your recruiters will view your recording. As such, you need to address it like a conventional face-to-face interview, dress accordingly, keep eye contact with the camera, and be familiar with the organisation and the role you applied for.
