Preparing for The Hiring Process at Scania

If you decide to go through the hiring process at Scania, you should know that it could take 6 weeks. During these weeks, you will go through a number of interviews and a number of tests that will assess your skills. Some are very specific to the job you will be applying for, while others are general and include:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required
  • Leadership and supervisory capabilities
  • Strong planning, prioritization, and origination skills

Scania Interview Expectations

The complexity and the duration of the interviews at Scania depend very much on the job you are applying for. You will be asked to participate in two or more of the following interviews:

  • Phone interviews. A phone interview can last up to 30 minutes and it is conducted via the telephone. Employers use this method to screen candidates in order to narrow the number of applicants who will be invited for an in-person interview. During the interview, candidates will be asked basic questions regarding their resume, their desire to work at the company, their availability to work, their desired salary, work history etc. If the interview is successful, the candidate will be invited to participate in a video interview or come to an in-person interview.
  • A video interview. A Video interview can be live or a pre-recorded. A live video interview or a Skype interview are done digitally, from the comfort of your home, and although they are seemingly easier than in-person interviews, they can be quite tricky and require practice as there are unique aspects to consider and keep in mind. These usually last up to an hour. A pre-recorded interview is where are given a set of questions which you have to answer while recording yourself. You then send this video to the interviewers.
  • Several levels of in-person interviews. If the phone interview was successful, you will be invited to a series of face-to-face (or in-person) interviews. These will be done with multiple people like the HR representative, your direct superior and the hiring manager.
  • A group interview. In a group interview, candidates will be grouped and interviewed simultaneously with other candidates (between 10-40) by multiple interviewers. These could take well over one hour.

Preparing for Scania’s Tests

You will be required to pass one or several of the following tests during Scania’s hiring process:

  • The Hogan Personality Test: The Hogan Personality Inventory assessment measures your day-to-day personality, also known as the bright side. It assesses how you relate to others. Employers will use this assessment to determine how well you work with others, whether you lead or follow, and if you are successful as a leader and as a follower.
  • A numerical reasoning test. A numerical reasoning teste generally refers to tests in which more than just basic arithmetic is involved. There are four major topics covered on these tests – word problems, number series, tables and graphs and sufficiency questions.
  • English tests. These tests are used to assess candidates for jobs where a good grasp of both written and spoken English is necessary. These assessments can cover general language skills but can also be focused on a certain field, such as technical or medical roles where specific vocabulary is necessary.
  • An abstract reasoning test. An abstract reasoning, or figural reasoning, test is used to assess the candidate’s ability to critically evaluate the problem. In these questions, you will be given a pair of shapes which introduce a certain relationship. You must then choose the missing shape that would complete the new pair of shapes that display the same relationship.
  • A verbal reasoning test. The logic of this test is quite different from the logic that governs most verbal reasoning tests. It greatly relies on critical thinking and pure logic, rather than simple verbal reasoning.
