What Does the Recruitment Process at Swiss Re Involve?

The hiring process at Swiss Re contains several stages:

After your documents have been screened, you will be invited to take CEB SHL Numerical or Verbal Tests, or both, depending on the position for which you compete. CEB SHL Numerical Tests include SHL Calculation Test, Numerical Reasoning Tests, and Numerical Series Tests. CEB SHL Verbal Tests are comprised of Verbal Analysis Test, Verbal Application Test, and Verbal Reasoning Test. Some of the job applicants may also be asked to pass the Excel Test. What Tests Are Offered at Swiss Re to Job Candidates?

Employers at Swiss Re ask applicants to take CEB SHL Numerical or Verbal Tests. Some of them will also take the Excel test. CEB SHL Numerical Test can be either SHL Calculation Test, or SHL Numerical Test, or SHL Numerical Series Test.

The Numerical Series Test

This is a numerical aptitude test requiring you to find a missing number in a series. Sometimes, its questions are more complicated, with the interval between the numbers holding the key to the sequence. As a rule, questions on this test present you with four visible number and one omitted number. There is a tip for you: to answer such questions correctly, first check the relationship between the given numbers. Look here for simple arithmetic connection between them. If you still cannot complete the sequence, analyse the intervals between the numbers and see whether you can spot the relationship there.  

There is also a variant of the Numerical Series Test, in which numbers are substituted for letters of English alphabet. This type of the test is considered to be less ambiguous: interleaved sequences can be used with fewer visible letters than in questions with numbers. If you are not used to work with letters in sequences, write a corresponding ordinary number under every given letter according to its numerical place in the alphabet. Thus, the letter C will have number 3 written underneath; the letter T will correspond to 20; and the letter V will have 22 written under it. With numbers inscribed under the letters, you will complete the sequence much quicker.
