NexantCEB SHL–Style Technical Test

CEB SHL-style Technical Test comprises three different test types, the combination of which could indicate the sort of skills and abilities candidates hold in important knowledge-based and cognitive areas.

Numerical Abilities

  • Numerical Computation – this test measures your ability to do quick and accurate calculations. This is usually a set of arithmetic calculations which require you to use basic arithmetic such as four operations, fractions, and decimals. In this case it is time pressure, absence of a calculator, and accuracy which might make it more difficult to complete the test successfully.
  • Numerical Reasoning – this test measures simple numerical abilities including understanding and recognising shortcuts to a solution. Candidates are presented with a short mathematical problem and are required to reach a calculation which will solve the problem. Use of a calculator is permitted.

Verbal Abilities

  • Technical Understanding – this test measures the ability to understand written text in the context of technical work. Short passages are presented and candidates are required to evaluate the truthfulness of statements according to the passage. The questions are in the format of True/False/Cannot say.

Technical Abilities

  • Mechanical Comprehension – this test measures the ability to understand basic mechanical principles. Questions introduce basic mechanical/electrical concepts and situations displayed in illustrations.
  • Fault Diagnosis – this test assesses the ability to identify faults in logical systems. Learn more about Fault Diagnosis tests.
  • Spatial Recognition – this test measures the ability to recognise shapes in 2D. It is used for the assessment of apprentices, fitters mechanics, and construction workers.
  • Visual Estimation– this test measures spatial perception and the ability to make comparisons. It is used for the assessment of craft and operator-level jobs involving basic design and assembly work.

Nexant SHL-Style Numerical Reasoning Test

Numerical reasoning tests are number-based assessments. They range from basic mathematics or arithmetic tests to high-level numerical critical reasoning assessments. The variety of test types corresponds to the numerous job levels these assessments are used for, including high ranking senior management positions, graduate or managerial jobs, and administrative and sales roles. Numerical tests are the most common type of aptitude test you can face during the recruitment process.

Nexant SHL-Style Verbal Reasoning Test

Verbal reasoning tests examine you on a range of English skills. These skills can be broken down into the following groups: Vocabulary, Grammar, Comprehension, and Critical Reasoning. Vocabulary assessments test your understanding of the words that are used in your line of work. This is measured through various assessments, such as mixed sentences tests, complete the sentence tests, spelling tests, and more. Grammar tests examine your understanding of English grammar and your ability to recognise good or bad grammar. Comprehension tests are designed to measure your ability to understand written information, analyse it, and interpret what you have read to answer questions. Critical Reasoning tests measure how you analyse the information in front of you.

Nexant SHL-Style Inductive/ Logical Reasoning Test

Logical reasoning also called Verbal, Inductive, or Deductive Reasoning tests, assesses the candidates' ability to read and understand complicated texts and, most importantly, to utilize critical thinking skills to draw conclusions and recognize important facts.

Nexant SHL-Style Situational Judgement Test

SHL situational judgement tests present potential scenarios relevant to the position being applied to and provide a selection of potential responses to each scenario. Candidates are requested to either choose the most appropriate response, or to rank the responses in order of desirability. Candidates' responses are then compared with a set of ideal answers generated by assessment experts.

Nexant SHL-Style Personality Test

The test is comprised of a maximum of 104 questions which measure 32 specific personality characteristics. It is highly complex and is administered on a computer. The candidate is presented with a block of four statements and must choose which of the statements best describes him and which of the statements least describes him. For example: Choose ONE statement that is Most and one that is Least like you:

  • I really like to help others.
  • I work best in teams.
  • I like to get things exactly right.
  • I sustain high levels of energy.

Nexant hiring processes follow similar patterns for each type of recruitment, but the exercises you will encounter depend on the level you are applying to. There are also some differences at each level between technical recruitment and business roles. You can be requested to interviews, to complete aptitude tests, and to attend an assessment centre.

How should I Conduct Myself in Nexant Group Exercise?

Many applicants have a genuine difficulty showing an adequate level of involvement in the group exercise in the assessment centre and demonstrating their skills in an optimal manner.
