The hiring process is long, and it takes 4 weeks. During this time, you will be required to participate in tests and be interviewed by multiple people. The company primarily looks for people who have the following skills:

  • Strong planning, prioritization, and origination skills

 

The Interviews at Hon Hai

While Hon Hai is one company, it has a presence in several locations. This and the type of job you are applying for have a heavy influence on the type and number of interviews you will have to go through. You may be required to participate in several of the following interviews:

  • An initial phone interview. Phone interviews are conducted via the telephone and usually last about 30 minutes. The candidate will be asked a series of basic questions like the availability to work, the salary requirements, experience, the reason for the desire to work at the company, duties, and responsibilities etc. If the phone interview is successful, the candidate will be asked to either complete a video interview or meet for a formal in-person interview.
  • Video interviews. A Video interview can be live or a pre-recorded. A live video interview involves using Skype, or a similar program. It’s as simple as that. It can take between 40-60 minutes to complete. A pre-recorded video interview involves employers sending you a link to an interview platform which contains pre-determined interview questions.   • Multiple levels of in-person interviews. A series of face-to-face (or in-person) interviews with multiple people. These are usually done gradually with an HR representative, your direct supervisor and another person in a managerial position.
  • You may be required to go through a technical interview. During a technical interview, it is not unusual for an interviewer to show a candidate a wiring diagram or a line of computer code and expect instant analysis in a technical interview. Candidates should bear in mind that interviewers are not just interested in technical knowledge (although this is very important) but also how candidates approach problems, construct their thought process, and demonstrate personal skills, such as communication.

 

The Tests at Hon Hai

Hon Hai aims to assess your skills through a number of tests. The job you are applying for influences the types of tests and their number which may include:

  • A numerical reasoning test. A numerical reasoning test includes a wide range of aptitude tests, varying from basic arithmetic tests and advanced numerical reasoning tests. On numerical reasoning tests, you are often given a chart with information on it, which you then have to solve.
  • English tests. These tests are used to assess candidates for jobs where a good grasp of both written and spoken English is necessary. These assessments can cover general language skills but can also be focused on a certain field, such as technical or medical roles where specific vocabulary is necessary.
  • Abstract reasoning tests. Abstract reasoning tests are used to assess the ability to understand and analyze visual information through pattern recognition. Your task is to determine which figure matches the pattern and continues the series.

 

Common Interview Questions

The many questions during your interview process are there, primarily, to assess your people skills and the common questions are:

  • Based on your knowledge of the role, what do you think the most important quality of a manager should be?
  • During your work experiences, tell me about a time when you demonstrated that you have the ability and desire to work effectively with your coworkers.
  • Tell me about yourself.
