The Hiring Process at Compal Electronics

The hiring process, which could take 4 weeks, requires you to take some tests, prior to coming to the interviews. These are usually online assessments which focus on testing your basic skills like language, typing, and communication, as well as some basic math. If you look closely at their job applications, you will see that there are a number of skills that all candidates are required to have, and these are:

  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong work ethic, motivation and willingness to learn
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Compal Electronics Interview Preparation

To some, the interview process at Compal Electronics may prove long and difficult, while to others it may prove easy and short. The reason for this is that different job positions require different skills, and to test these skills, interviewers implement different techniques which include:

  • Phone interviews. A phone interview is usually conducted by a recruiter or an HR manager, for the purpose of deciding who will come for the face-to-face interview. These usually last around 30 minutes, and if successful, will move the candidate to the next stage, which is the in-person interview.
  • Video interviews are sometimes used when there is difficulty to organize a face-to-face interview. There are two types of video interviews, a live one, and a pre-recorded one. The live video interview involves the use of Skype or a similar program. It will be like an in-person interview with more detailed questioning. A live video interview can be as long as one hour. In a pre-recorded video interview, candidates will have to answer given questions, record the answers on video and send them to the interviewer. employers usually send a link to a specific platform where this can be done.
  • Face-to-face interviews. If the initial phone interview is successful, you will be invited by Compal Electronics to participate in one or more face-to-face (in-person) interviews with a member of the management team, a mix of managers, HR representatives, and potential co-workers.
  • Technical interviews. Technical interviews are common amongst employers recruiting for engineering, science or I.T. roles. Essentially, it’s an interview to assess your technical ability, usually related to the technical knowledge required for the role and the organization you wish to work for.
  • Panel interviews. Typically, your panel of interviewers will represent multiple areas of the company, so each representative will consider you through a different lens. For example, if you’re interviewing at a tech company for a project management role, your panel might include the department manager (your potential direct supervisor), an HR manager, and team leads from the engineering and marketing departments, whose teams you’d work with on a daily basis.

Tests Conducted by Compal Electronics

Compal Electronics requires all candidates to pass several of the following tests. The exact tests depend on what job you’ve applied for:

  • A numerical reasoning test. A numerical reasoning teste generally refers to tests in which more than just basic arithmetic is involved. There are four major topics covered on these tests – word problems, number series, tables and graphs and sufficiency questions.
  • English tests. These tests aim to assess both written and spoken English. They are covering a number of topics such as Vocabulary, Grammar, Spelling and more.
  • A Microsoft Word test. This test is aimed at applicants for jobs that require the use of Word at its fullest capacity. On this test, you will be asked to perform more complex tasks, such as mail merges, advanced formatting, and using templates and tables. The test contains questions of varying difficulty levels, from basic use to more advanced functions and features.
  • A Microsoft Excel test. The advanced level test requires a candidate to master the different features of the software. Most of the questions will deal with formulas, macro creation, advanced formatting and document properties.
  • A personality test. Personality tests are one of the most interesting selection tests used by employers. As psychometric tests, they evaluate behaviour, strengths and weaknesses and work-related skills.
  • A verbal reasoning test. The logic of this test is quite different from the logic that governs most verbal reasoning tests. It greatly relies on critical thinking and pure logic, rather than simple verbal reasoning.
