Talogy Assessments: The Complete UK Guide (2026)

Updated: 10 February 2026

If you've been invited to take a Talogy assessment and are feeling a little unsure about it, you're not alone. Every year, thousands of UK candidates face Talogy psychometric tests for graduate schemes, professional roles, and leadership opportunities.

While these assessments can feel unfamiliar and even daunting, the good news is that strong preparation can make a real difference. Understanding what Talogy measures, how each test works, and what employers are looking for can significantly improve your confidence and ultimate performance.

This in-depth guide takes you through everything you need to know about Talogy and your upcoming Talogy test.

What Is Talogy?

Talogy is a global provider of psychometric pre-employment assessments, talent analytics, and people development solutions.

With a strong focus on scientifically validated testing rooted in occupational psychology, Talogy's psychometric tests help employers gain insight into how candidates think, behave, and make decisions under pressure.

This makes Talogy assessments especially common in competitive hiring processes, and they're used extensively in the UK in both the public and private sectors, including government agencies like MI5 and major companies like Microsoft, Coca-Cola, and Danske Bank.

Many candidates may still recognise the name Cubiks, and for good reason.

Cubiks was a UK-based pyschometric testing company whose assessments became widely adopted by major employers. The company, however, was acquired by PSI in 2019, and then officially rebranded to Talogy in 2022, bringing its tools into a broader global assessment platform. As a result, Cubiks Logiks, PAPI, Factors+, and Dilemmas are now Talogy assessments, though test names may still reference Cubiks.

In the UK, most job applicants will encounter Cubiks-based Talogy assessments.

What Is A Talogy Assessment?

A Talogy assessment is a structured psychometric test (or group of tests) designed to predict how well a candidate will perform in a specific role.

They're created to measure a number of skills, such as cognitive ability (numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and logical problem-solving), personality traits including motivation and leadership styles, behavioural tendencies like how a candidate approaches teamwork, conflict, and decision-making, as well as judgement and situational awareness in realistic workplace scenarios.

Broadly speaking, Talogy psychometric tests are divided into the following assessment types:

  • Ability (Aptitude) Tests: These measure how quickly and accurately you can process information. Cognitive ability tests strongly predict learning speed, problem-solving, and adaptability in new roles.
  • Personality & Behavioural Questionnaires: Rather than judging personality as good or bad, these assessments explore how you prefer to work and give employers a chance to assess fit with the role, team, and organisational culture.
  • Situational Judgement Tests: SJTs focus on practical decision-making and examine how you prioritise, communicate, and resolve issues in realistic workplace scenarios.
  • Gamified Assessments: Gamified tools use interactive tasks to measure cognitive ability in a more engaging format.
  • Development & Leadership Tools: These are used primarily for internal promotion and professional development rather than external hiring.

Employers usually don't look at Talogy assessment results in isolation. Instead, performance is typically compared against role-specific benchmarks. This is why adequate preparation can really help candidates ace their Talogy tests.

Most Talogy assessments are available under branded names, including Talogy InView Leadership, Talogy Spotlight, Talogy 360, eip3, Logiks, Mindgage, Hire, P.A.P.I., Dilemmas, Resilience, VirtualAC, CBI Smart, Talogy Caliper, Safety DNA, 16pf, Factors, Talogy Perceptions, Capture, and lci.

Below, we'll look at the most common Talogy tests in a bit more detail.

Talogy Ability (Aptitude) Tests

Talogy offers two core ability or aptitude tests, including the popular Logiks General (formerly part of Cubiks) and the gamified Mindgage.

Talogy Logiks Tests

The Talogy (formerly Cubiks) Logiks General is one of the most common Talogy ability tests used in UK recruitment.

It assesses three core reasoning skills, namely verbal reasoning (understanding and evaluating written information), numerical reasoning (working with data, charts, and figures), and abstract reasoning (identifying patterns and logical relationships).

There are actually two different types of Logiks General tests, which have a slightly different structure:

  • Logiks General (Intermediate): This test consists of 50 questions that need to be answered in 12 minutes. It's commonly used for graduate and entry-level positions.
  • Logiks General (Advanced): This test consists of 30 questions with a higher level of complexity that need to be answered in 20 minutes. It's commonly used for professional, managerial, and leadership roles where employers assess advanced problem-solving and reasoning depth.

A core challenge of the Logiks General tests is time pressure. Many capable candidates struggle not with the difficulty of the test but because of how quickly the test moves. This fast pace makes preparation essential.

We offer preparation packages for both the Logiks General (Intermediate) and the Logiks General (Advanced) tests, so you can develop all the skills you need ahead of test day.

Talogy Mindgage Test

Mindgage is Talogy's gamified cognitive assessment and it's becoming increasingly popular with UK employers looking to modernise their recruitment processes.

Instead of traditional multiple-choice questions, Mindgage uses interactive tasks across four modules, including numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, mental rotation, and perceptual speed. Each module lasts between 5 to 10 minutes.

Even though Mindgage feels less formal, it measures the same core abilities as standard aptitude tests, and preparation is just as important.

Talogy Personality & Behavioural Assessments

There are multiple personality and behavioural assessments in the Talogy portfolio, but popular options include PAPI, Factors, and Caliper.

Talogy P.A.P.I. Test (Personality And Preference Inventory)

The Personality and Preference Inventory (P.A.P.I.) test is one of Talogy's flagship personality assessments in the UK. It evaluates your preferred work style, motivation, leadership tendencies, and interpersonal behaviour.

There are different versions of PAPI tests, including:

  • PAPI 3+: This test consists of 162 work-related statements that you will need to rank on a scale of 1 (strongly agree) to 7 (strongly disagree). While untimed, it requires focus and consistency as similar traits are measured in different ways.
  • PAPI-I: This test uses 90 paired statements, forcing you to choose between two desirable traits. This format reduces socially desirable responding and highlights genuine preferences.

There are no right or wrong answers, but PAPI tests typically assess how well a potential candidate would fit into a role and company culture. Becoming familiar with the style of questions ahead of time is key.

We offer both a stand-alone PAPI PrepPack as well as full PAPI training within our broader All-Inclusive Talogy PrepPack.

Talogy Factors Test (Factors+)

Factors+ is a shorter personality questionnaire based on the PAPI framework. With 54 statements and a completion time of around 10 minutes, it provides employers with a quick but reliable behavioural snapshot.

The Talogy Factors test is often used earlier in the recruitment process or when time is limited.

Talogy Caliper Test

The Caliper assessment is most commonly used for leadership, management, and sales-focused roles.

It combines personality insights with elements of cognitive ability to predict workplace behaviour, motivation, and performance. There aren't any right or wrong answers, but the test does look at patterns in how you answer.

In the UK, Caliper is typically used later in the hiring process or for senior appointments rather than entry-level roles.

Talogy Situational Judgement Tests

Talogy's most popular situational judgement test (SJT) is called Dilemmas. It places you in realistic workplace scenarios and asks you to evaluate or rank possible responses, thereby assessing your decision-making process in work-related scenarios.

There are different versions of the Dilemmas assessment that are tailored to specific roles and the position you're applying for, including managerial, graduate, administrative, customer service, and call centre.

Employers use Dilemmas to assess judgement, prioritisation, and alignment with organisational values, rather than technical knowledge.

We offer full situational judgement test training as part of our All-Inclusive Talogy PrepPack.

How To Prepare For A Talogy Assessment

Preparing for a Talogy assessment is much easier when you know what to expect.

To prepare effectively, focus on the following:

  • Understand the test format: Identify whether you're taking an ability test (like Logiks or Mindgage), a personality questionnaire (like PAPI or Factors+), or a situational judgement test, and familiarise yourself with its structure.
  • Practise under time pressure: Talogy tests are known to be quick, so it's important to get comfortable with the speed and question types, especially for numerical, verbal, and abstract reasoning tests.
  • Review core competencies: For personality and situational judgement tests, reflect on the behaviours and traits being assessed, such as teamwork, decision-making, adaptability, and leadership. Practice tests can be really helpful for this.
  • Work on weaker areas: Pay attention to sections you find more challenging, whether it's abstract reasoning, mental rotation, or ranking SJT responses.
  • Simulate real conditions: Practise in a quiet environment using strict time limits to build focus and test-day confidence.

Targeted preparation, especially for Logiks General, Mindgage, and PAPI, can make a noticeable difference, helping you approach your assessment calmly and confidently. FAQs

Talogy is a global assessment and talent management company, headquartered in the US, that provides psychometric testing and talent management solutions.

Talogy UK supports employers across both the public and private sectors, using evidence-based Talogy tech grounded in occupational psychology. The company also offers a wide range of Talogy careers, spanning assessment design, data science, technology, and consulting roles worldwide.

Talogy is privately owned by Lifelong Learner Holdings LLC (LLH), which focuses on global talent management solutions. LLH now owns Talogy Ltd as a standalone business, after selling PSI Services LLC to Educational Testing Services (ETS) in 2024.

Cubiks was a UK-based psychometric testing company whose assessments were widely used by major employers.

The company was acquired by PSI in 2019 and then branded as Talogy in 2022. As a result, tests originally part of the Cubiks portfolio, such as Logiks, PAPI, Factors, and Dilemmas, are now Talogy assessments, even if the name Cubiks is still often referenced.

PSI assessments are part of Talogy's global portfolio and tend to focus on technical, cognitive, and high-stakes ability testing. They are commonly used in industries such as aviation, healthcare, law enforcement, and public safety.

In the UK, most job applicants will encounter Cubiks-based Talogy assessments rather than PSI tests, unless they're applying for specialist or safety-critical roles.

Talogy's Mindgage can be challenging because it measures reasoning ability under time pressure, despite its game-like format.

Talogy Spotlight Core is an integrated assessment framework combining ability, personality, and behavioural data into one profile.

The 16 Personality Factor Questionnaire (16pf) is one of the Talogy personality trait tests. It assesses 16 core personality traits, such as emotional stability, openness to change, and rule-consciousness.

Employers often use it to gain a more detailed psychological profile, especially when evaluating long-term potential, leadership capability, or role fit in complex environments.

Talogy's Resilience assessments focus on how individuals cope with pressure, adapt to change, and recover from setbacks. These tools are used by UK employers in high-demand roles or fast-paced industries, as well as for leadership development and wellbeing initiatives.

Talogy offers a few assessment tools focused on emotional intelligence and leadership development, including:

  • Emotional Intelligence (EI) assessments, which measure how effectively individuals understand and manage emotions
  • 360-degree feedback tools that gather input from managers, peers, and direct reports

These types of assessments, though, are commonly used for leadership development and internal promotions rather than initial hiring.

Most Talogy ability tests, including Logiks and Mindgage, are timed and move quickly. Personality questionnaires such as PAPI and Factors+ are usually untimed, but they still require focus and consistency.

There is no formal pass or fail. Instead, Talogy assessment results are usually compared against role-specific benchmarks set by the employer. Strong preparation can help ensure your performance accurately reflects your ability and suitability for the role.

You can read more about this in our guide to Talogy scoring.
