Qantas Group (including Qantas, QantasLink, Jetconnect, and Jetstar) selects its pilots for their experience, talent, and ability to handle any situation. Pilots are rewarded for their performance, skills, and dedication through active career progression, which is backed by excellent training, facilities, and ongoing support.
Qantas seeks applications from suitably qualified pilots, instructors, trainee pilots, and cadet pilot applicants.
The recruitment process for the company usually involves a number of stages:
To become a pilot at Qantas, you must successfully pass several psychometric tests. You need to take these tests in the early stages of the recruitment process; if you pass them, you are asked to sit a shorter version of them later in the process to verify your results.
The psychometric tests are provided by Talent Q, an assessment company that is part of the Korn Ferry Hay Group. They include three ability tests — numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning — and a personality test.
The ability tests, called the Talent Q Elements tests, measure your ability to perform or carry out different tasks. These tests are considered rather short, comprised of only 12 to 15 questions each. The tests are also adaptive — your ability is assessed as you progress through the test, and the difficulty level of the questions is adapted accordingly. This allows you to demonstrate your full potential, but, at the same time, it also means that if you do well the difficulty level of the test becomes more and more difficult. Moreover, Talent Q's Elements tests are known to be extremely challenging because each question includes a large number of answer choices to choose from, making guessing ineffective.
The personality questionnaire, also known as the Dimensions personality test, is used to assess your workplace behavioural style and preferences. Read more about the Dimensions Personality Test.
In order to beat the competition and make it through to the next stages of the application process, you must prepare in advance for your Qantas tests. JobTestPrep offers you all the preparation materials you need in one place. Our resources are available online and can be accessed immediately, so you can start preparing for your tests right away.
