The hiring process at Barilla

 

  • Applying online: You will have to fill in some personal details, send your updated CV, attach a cover letter and wait for a response from the company.
  • A phone interview: If you pique their interest, the company will contact you by phone. This phone call, or the phone interview, is a screening method to further shorten the list of candidates who will be invited to an interview. The phone interview will focus on your resume, you will also be asked some general questions about availability, salary etc.
  • Assessments: in case of a successful phone interview you will be invited to company premises and asked to participate in several assessments, including CEB’s SHL assessment.
  • Final interview: should you pass your assessment with flying colours, you will be invited to multiple face-to-face interviews with several people, including the recruiter, a representative from HR and several managers.

 

CEB’s SHL test at Barilla

These tests are provided by CEB’s SHL Talent Measurement. The number, type, and level of tests you will need to take depend on the role for which you are applying. Below we will focus on the different tests applicants for Barilla may be asked to take.

  • Numerical Test: On the test, you are presented with different numerical data items in the form of graphs and tables. After careful analysis of the figures, you need to answer multiple choice questions relating to the data.
  • Verbal Reasoning Test: This test is designed to assess how well you use written information. You will be presented with a paragraph of text and a statement based on that text. You need to come to a conclusion as to whether this statement is true, false, or impossible to say based on the text presented.
  • Logical Reasoning Test: On this test, you are presented with a series of shapes following some pattern. Your task is to identify this pattern and choose the next shape in the sequence from a list of options.
  • Personality Test: The purpose of the SHL personality test is to assess how well you fit with HSBC’s values.
  • Situational Judgement Test: On this assessment, you are presented with a number of different work-based scenarios and a series of potential responses to those situations. You must choose the responses you find most and least effective.
