What to Expect During Covea’s Hiring Process

Depending on what you apply for, the hiring process can take up to 6 weeks. Apart from the specific tests, you’ll have to do, for your specific job, there are a number of general tests that will be conducted to assess your other skills like:

  • Critical logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
  • Keen attention to detail


Covea Interview Stages

To some, the interview process at Covea may prove long and difficult, while to others it may prove easy and short. The reason for this is that different job positions require different skills, and to test these skills, interviewers implement different techniques which include:

  • An initial phone interview. A phone interview includes a very brief review of the candidate’s background and a number of very basic questions to determine the viability of the candidate for the position. You will go over your resume, answering and clarifying certain points. You will be asked what requirements you have in terms of salary, your work history etc. If the interviewers like your answers and deem them acceptable, you will be invited to an in-person interview.
  • A video interview. A Video interview can be live or pre-recorded. A live video interview, which will be done through Skype, will assess you more closely. It usually has behavioural based questions and some technical questions. This type of interview can take between 40-60 minutes. A pre-recorded interview is where are given a set of questions which you have to answer while recording yourself. You then send this video to the interviewers.
  • Several levels of face-to-face interviews. A series of face-to-face (or in-person) interviews with multiple people. These are usually done gradually with an HR representative, your direct supervisor and another person in a managerial position.
  • Panel interviews. A panel interview is a job interview where an applicant answers questions from a group of people who make the hiring decision. Hiring managers use panel interviews to gain perspective from other people in the organization and occasionally those outside the organization.
  • A group interview. A group interview involves multiple interviewers and multiple candidates. You will be in a room with between 10-40 other candidates and 4-6 interviewers. Each interviewer will ask each candidate a question. You may be required to participate in a group exercise like a presentation or a case study.


The Testing Process at Covea

During the testing process at Covea, you’ll be required to take and pass the Talent Q Assessments. Talent Q's ability tests differ from other common psychometric tests with regard to concepts, test formats, and question types. One of the main differences is that the tests are adaptable. This means that depending on whether your response to a question is correct or incorrect the system presents you with a subsequent question of either greater or lesser difficulty until your appropriate difficulty level is found. There are several different sub-categories to the Talent Q test:

  • Talent Q Elements: The Talent Q Elements series is a collection of three different tests—numerical, verbal, and logical. These tests can be administered together or split up, depending on the job position and role. Talent Q Elements tests are used in the hiring process of supervisors, managers, and any other high-level positions. Each test has between 12 and 15 different questions that vary in difficulty level.
  • Talent Q Aspects and Abilities: The Talent Q Aspects and Abilities series is a set of three different tests—verbal, numerical, and checking—which are usually administered online. Each of the Aspects Ability tests takes between five and 10 minutes to complete, making them quick and easy for employers to use. Talent Q Aspects also contains a personality test known as Styles. Styles is a personality, competency-based questionnaire. It uses 16 different character traits to assess candidates. On this test, you are presented with a series of different statements, and you must rate how well they match your personality on a five-grade scale, from completely untrue to very true. Results are used to evaluate a candidate's personality with regards to the job application, as well as serve as a guide for an upcoming interview.
  • Talent Q Dimensions: In its 25-minute time frame, the Dimensions online personality questionnaire is able to accurately measure an applicant’s personality across several different fields. These different fields are People and Relationships, Tasks and Projects, and Drives and Emotions. You are given a statement, such as 'How true is each statement below in relation to your behavior at work?' You are then given four different statements that you must rate on a five-option, true-based scale. There are 160 of these statements, all relating to different behavioral trends.
