The hiring process can be long, in some cases up to a month. You are required to participate in several different interviews and some difficult tests. Some of the general skills required by this company for most positions are:
Critical logic, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain information in appropriate channels with specific attention to confidentially.
The Tests at Michelin
The tests may include:
A personality test
A logic test
A timed mechanical aptitude test
A math test
These are straightforward tests, they are general tests applied by most companies. Michelin, however, has another set of tests they may require you to take the CEB's SHL which has several layers.
The numerical reasoning test. In this test, you will encounter numerical data in the form of a table or a graph, followed by multiple-choice questions relating to them. Answering the questions often requires you to show basic math aptitude and to perform calculations involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and conversions.
The verbal reasoning test. Here, you will read short passages of text and answer questions relating to each passage. Each question will require you to quickly evaluate whether a statement is true, false, or indeterminable based on the text.
The inductive reasoning test. In this test, you are presented with a row of figures consisting of lines, shapes, arrows, etc. You need to identify the underlying pattern of that sequence and choose the figure that would come next in the series from the available options.
The Interviews at Michelin
The first type of interview you will encounter is the phone interview, which may take up to an hour. Here you will go over your resume and asked mainly behavioural questions as well as past experiences.
Next, if the phone interview was successful, you will have a screening video interview. This is not a live interview. You will be able to record your answers and send it to the interviewers.
If all goes well, you will be invited to a face-to-face interview which will be with several people.
Sometimes you may be required to go through a panel interview. You will be required to make a PowerPoint presentation for a group of 6 people.
