Prepare for United Nations Development Programme Tests

Gaining a coveted internship in the United Nations Development Programme entails many different steps which you will find detailed below:

  • Online Application Process: To begin the recruitment process, you will need to select a programme from the UNDP jobs page. If you find a position for which you meet the prerequisites, you will need to submit your application and any required supporting documents.
  • Telephone Interview: Once your application and documentation has passed the screening process, you will be contacted either via email or phone to schedule a phone interview. Be prepared to answer questions regarding your CV and previous work experience (if applicable).
  • Skype Interview: At times internship applicants are asked to participate in a Skype interview as opposed to a phone interview. You will be asked similar questions in a phone interview.
  • Assessment Tests: The aptitude tests that you will be expected to take during the UNDP internship hiring process will be determined by the programme you have decided to apply for.
  • In-Person Interview: Your in-person interviews will most likely be held in a panel format. These panel interviews will often include at least three representatives from the UNDP and a member of the HR team.
  • Assessment Centre: During the assessment centre, you will meet with other applicants and participate in a variety of group activities and discussions. Keep in mind that an assessment centre is not always necessary for every position.

United Nations Development Programme Assessments

The psychometric exams you will need to take will vary depending on the career path or internship you have selected. The most common style test used for the United Nations Development Programme are those provided by Talent Q. The Talent Q assessments are used to evaluate a range of abilities and skills which are sought after by the UNDP for internship vacancies.

The Talent Q tests are used to measure your numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning abilities. Familiarising yourself with the format and answers of this style of test will give you an advantage over the competition. United Nations Development Programme Interview Questions

During your interviews, you will be asked a number of behavioural and competency based questions. Here are some examples of the questions you may be asked:

  • Why have you applied for the UNDP internship?
  • What skills do you have that are relevant to the programme?
  • Do you work well under pressure and with strict project deadlines?

It is highly recommended to use the STAR method of answering questions so that your responses remain organized and engaging.
