The hiring process at NXP

The hiring process at NXP Semiconductors has several steps to it which involve the following:

  • You will have to apply online through the career section on their website. You will have to send your CV and your cover letter. Make sure that they are updated, proof-read and have relevant keywords. Also, make sure that they are of the same style.
  • If they decide to contact you, they will first do it by phone. This will be a screening interview where you will cover you CV and ask each other relevant questions. You may be asked general questions regarding your availability and salary requirements.
  • If you make it to the short list of the candidates who pass the phone interview, you will be invited to come to the company premises and participate in several assessments. These assessments vary from position to position, but the general, important assessment will be the Cubiks assessment.
  • Finally, should you pass the assessments successfully, you will be required to participate in several types of interviews. These include face-to-face interviews, group interviews, panel interviews, technical interviews and more.

The Cubiks Test at NXP

During the hiring process at NXP Semiconductors, you will be required to take and pass the Cubiks assessment test. The Cubiks test consists of several sub-categories:

  • The ability tests: these explore how you process and reason with different kinds of information, such as verbal, numerical, and the more abstract and non-verbal type. It takes 12 minutes (4 per section) and has 50 questions.
  • The Personality assessments: these explore your preferred work style, and also what drives your behaviour. Whilst it is unlimited, it takes around 30 minutes to complete. Here you’ll have to agree or disagree with statements. Another aspect to this test is that you may be required to choose, from sets of three statements, which you like the most and which you like the least.
  • The Situational judgement tests (SJTS): these explore how you respond to a series of work-related scenarios that are related to performance in a particular role.
