What Is the Talent-Q Dimensions Test?

The Talent-Q Dimensions Test is an online personality assessment that aims to understand your work-related traits, behaviours, and preferences – how you manage relationships, how you communicate with your colleagues, how you approach your tasks and assignments, what motivates you, what are your leadership qualities, your strategic thinking methods, and so on.

The questionnaire you will take is customized by your recruiters especially for the position you applied for, and it measures the specific characteristics required on the job out of the 15 Dimensions traits that the tests measure.

The 15 Dimensions traits are divided into three domains –

  • People and Relationships – your communication skills, how you approach your co-workers, and how you can affect and support your colleagues.
  • Tasks and Projects – your working style preferences, way of thinking, organization style, how you analyze information, and how you carry out assignments.
  • Drives and Emotions – your approach and attitude when dealing with feelings, handling stressful situations, adapting to new and unfamiliar situations, and what drives you in your work.

You will be presented with a block of statements. You will then need to rate each statement according to how true it is about your work behaviour and approach on a five-point scale ranging from ‘very true’ to ‘completely untrue.’

If you give two or more statements the same ranking, you will need to rank these statements compared to each other on a scale of ‘most true’ to ‘least true.’

The number of questions varies according to the hiring company and usually ranges between 13 to 40 questions. There is no time limit. However, once you submit your ranking for a block of statements, you will not be able to return and change your rating.

Talent-Q Dimensions Test Results

There is no passing score for the personality questionnaire, and the results of your Talent-Q Dimensions test will be sent to your recruiters as a report broken down into several categories, such as traits profile, behaviour profile, role match profile, and team profile.

This information not only answers the question “are you suited to the position?” but also shows your capacity for development and progression and many other aspects of interest to the employer.

The information produced in the test results includes:

  • Detailed results of your personality traits
  • Qualities to focus on in the interview
  • Leadership and development potential
  • How you function in a team
  • Style of work
  • Compatibility with the organization's culture and environment
  • Sales skills
  • Factors that can hinder promotions

Thus, when you answer the questions, don’t think only about the job you are currently applying for but also about your entire career with this company. Think about whether you want to develop your skills, become a manager or a leader, or create opportunities for other roles in the company.

Talent-Q Dimensions Test Tips

note

Do the research
The Talent-Q Dimensions test is tailored specifically for the position you are applying for. Come prepared, and know the job description and the company’s agenda. Consider all these when rating each statement and take into account that a positive trait for one line of work may be negative for another.
For example, rating high a statement like “I don’t hesitate to speak of my personal strengths and achievements” may be suitable for independent managerial positions but might not be a good fit for a teamwork position.

note

It’s not personal
Although the Talent-Q Dimensions test is a personality assessment, it only regards your behaviour in the workplace and not your personal life. Thus, use judgement, don’t be instinctive, and focus on the desired behaviour in the position for which you are applying. This doesn't mean you should be disingenuous, of course, but it is helpful to remember that the company is not interested in knowing what you are like among friends, only in your ability to act professionally when at work.

note

Seize the opportunity
If you are invited to take a personality test, it usually means that you have the qualifications for the job, and this assessment is a way to see if your traits and characteristics match the organization’s cultural environment. This is your chance to make your personality shine, highlight your best qualities and show how you’re the best person for the job.

noteBe honest
As this is a personality test, if you get the job, it will be because you have the right traits. Yes, you should emphasize your best qualities and show how they are perfect for the role, but if you are not replying sincerely, you might realize that this is not the job for you.

Find out how your qualities and characteristics are measured and learn how to bring your personality to the forefront with the Talent-Q Dimensions bonus preparation included in JobTestPreps’ Talent-Q Elements PrePack.
