About Macy’s PrepPacks™

During the recruitment process, you'll be asked to take a number of different Macy’s tests. You are asked to complete these tests online. These tests are in general provided by Watson Glaser. To successfully move on to the next stage of the hiring process, utilise JobTestPrep's comprehensive preparation packages to give yourself the best chance of success.

Macy’s Watson Glaser–Style Assessments

The Watson Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal (WGCTA) is a verbal-style test produced by Pearson TalentLens in the UK. It is administered by employers as either an online test (usually unsupervised at home, or in some cases at a Pearson Vue test centre), or as a paper-based test in an assessment centre. The Watson Glaser test is split into five sections, and it consists of 40 questions that must be completed in 30 minutes. The test is given to graduates, managers, and senior managers across a range of professions, including lawyers, accountants, and the finance sector. Your results are assessed against a norm group relevant to the position you are applying for, or against a company-specific norm group.

Macy’s Numerical Tests

Depending on the job and profession you are seeking, you may encounter a pre-hire maths test. These are also known as numerical reasoning tests, quantitative reasoning tests, or simply a numerical test. This is the most common type of aptitude test applicants can face. Test takers are assessed on their ability to understand and make decisions based on numerical data. The exam may be administered as part of an online job application, at the job site, or during an interview.

Macy’s Situational Judgement Tests

When answering a question on an SJT, try to imagine yourself at work, and answer the questions accordingly. This is quite important since we all act and react differently inside and out of the workplace. When taking a situational judgment test, you want to answer as your 'work self'—the logical, reasonable, mature version of yourself.

Macy’s Personality Tests

There are different kinds of questions found on personality assessment tests. When given a statement with extreme statements such as "always" and "never," you should answer them with less extreme answers such as "agree" and "not strongly agree." However, there are times during a personality test in which you should choose "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree.

Preparing for the test will help you get familiar with the question types on the actual test, will improve your scores, and give you the edge you need to gain the job.

How Long does Macy’s Hiring Process Take?

The hiring process depends on the number of tasks you have to fulfil. Typically, there are hundreds, if not thousands of candidates are applying for the same job. Whilst most of them are filtered out through the use of online tests, that still leaves many who have to go through face to face assessments and interviews. We can make some generalisations though. Online tests and automatic application screening typically takes no more than a week. However, you will only know if you have gotten through to the next stage of the application process once the job posting has been closed. The company will normally take a further month to come up with a shortlist of candidates who should attend interviews and assessment centres. These assessment centres usually take place in the first three months of the year and you get the results typically about a week or two afterwards. We can, therefore, say that the entire process can take up to six months.

How can I Succeed in Case Study Exercise on Macy’s Assessment Day?

"Delve into" the case study. Reflect your thoughts as the character you were assigned to, and address the corresponding characters you have been asked to report to.

The test demands time management, prioritisation and distinction between important and peripheral. Case study exercises are usually designed to have more than one 'correct' answer; as long as you logically justify your recommendations and they stand up to questioning by the assessor, then your analysis can be regarded in a positive light.

Don't spend too much time trying to learn the nuances of a particular industry. Focus instead on tackling common challenges faced by most businesses. But don't hesitate to clarify pertinent questions, as listening to clients is just as important as advising them.

Remember, this is a real client case, so you want to establish the needs of the clients before you can give advice! Be confident but not arrogant. When presenting, one must give off the notion that one is speaking with an air of knowledge and authority. However, no one likes it when this turns into over confidence. If this happens, one might end up not listening and missing vital cues from the questioner, and of course clients won't like this either. Even though you are working against the clock, take the time to analyse the situation before attempting to make notes or answer the questions.
