Before starting the recruitment process it is helpful to get a sense of who the process will plat out so that you can you best prepare.

  • Screening Call: Expect the screening call to last at least 15 minutes, whereby the company representative will do a thorough review of your CV. It is important that all facts on your CV be accurate that you are familiar with both the order and content of your past work
  • The Interview: After the screening call you will be invited to an in-person interview, which is in a more laid-back atmosphere than other companies. However, with that said it is important not to let the light atmosphere throw you off into losing sight of the goal.

Skanska Pre-Hire Tests

Depending on the position you are looking to fill you may encounter one of the following tests. Finding the right preparation resources to pass is paramount to overcoming the competition.

  • Mechanical Reasoning Test: In this test the primary focus is to test you understanding the principles behind a range of calculations from Newtonian mechanics to static and dynamic electricity. The questions will be asked in multiple-choice form and will be strictly timed, so it is important to practice similar questions to increase both your accuracy and time response.
  • Situational Judgement Test: This test depicts realistic situations and conflicts that are likely to arise in the workplace, and provides response options to these situations. Candidates are asked to choose the most and least effective responses, rate or rank-order them based on their effectiveness. Try our free situational judgement test sample.
  • The Cognitive Ability Test: This exam is usually only 15 minutes, but is intense in that you must rapidly answer 50 across math and logic, verbal ability, and spatial reasoning. This gives the company a sense of how you perform under pressure and you ability to grasp a wide range of topics quickly.
