What Are the Korn Ferry Assessment Tests?

The Korn Ferry-Talent Q assessments are a set of tests that evaluate the skills and traits of candidates and employees to see how they fit into a certain position.

The tests can be divided into two types –

  • Personality assessments – evaluation of your traits, behaviours, goals, and motivations.
  • Cognitive ability assessments – evaluation of your cognitive abilities and numerical, verbal, and logical reasoning.

Below is a comprehensive list of Korn Ferry Assessments, along with a brief summary of each test explaining what it is about, what it measures, and what you should keep in mind when preparing for it.


Korn Ferry Assessment Tests

Korn Ferry Assessment of Leadership Potential – KFALP

The Korn Ferry Assessment of Leadership Potential (KFALP) is a personality questionnaire that evaluates your leading competencies and potential through seven factors –

  Drive – your motivation to be and serve as a leader.

  Experience – your formative experiences and background and the challenges you faced in your previous roles.

  Awareness – your acknowledgement of your strengths and weaknesses.

  Capacity – your ability to solve problems and think logically.

  Learning agility – your ability to learn from your experiences and apply them to new experiences.

  Leadership traits – your personality traits that are suited for leadership.

  Derailment risks – your personality traits that may negatively affect your competency to lead.

The test includes two types of questions –

  1. Prioritizing drives – you will be presented with 6 statements that you will need to prioritize based on what motivates you on your job.
  2. A Likert scale – you will be presented with four statements regarding your work style. First, you will need to choose the statement that best describes you. Then, you will need to choose the next two statements that are most like you until you choose three out of the four initial statements.

Korn Ferry Four-Dimensional Executive Assessment –KF4D

The Korn Ferry Four-Dimensional Executive Assessment (KF4D) test, also known as the Korn Ferry UIT, evaluates your leadership and talent attributes through four aspects –

  Traits – your personality characteristics that affect your behaviour.

  Competencies – your skills and behaviours that are required for your success.

  Drivers – your motivations and interests.

  Experience – your formative experiences and professional background.

The KF4D includes three sections –Job Profile, Individual exercise, and Candidate report. Each section is further divided into a series of mini-assessments, in which you will need to rank, prioritize, and describe various elements regarding you, your role and your position within the company.

Korn Ferry Viaedge™ Self-Assessment

The Korn Ferry viaEDGE™ is a self-assessment evaluation of your learning agility through five factors –

  Self-awareness – your acknowledgement of your strengths and weaknesses.

  Mental agility – your ability to embrace complexity, examine problems and make connections between different concepts.

  People agility – your openness toward other people's ideas, ability to interact with diverse people, and understanding of their interests, strengths and limitations.

  Change agility – your openness to change and ability to explore new options.

  Result agility – how you are motivated by challenge and your ability to deliver results in first-time situations.

The test includes three sections –

  1. A Likert scale – you will be presented with personality and behaviorally-oriented items that you will need to rank.
  2. Biodata questions – you will need to answer personal and work-related questions.
  3. Situational Judgment Test (SJT) – you will be presented with workplace scenarios, and you will need to choose the best response.

 

Talent Q Assessment Tests

Talent Q Elements

Talent Q Elements is a set of cognitive ability tests, each assesses a different reasoning skill that can indicate your work-related competencies.

The tests are adaptive, which means that the question varies in difficulty, and if you answer correctly, the next question will be harder. If you answer incorrectly, the next question will be easier.

This test is often used for graduate and managerial recruitment.

 

  • Talent Q Elements – Logical

The Talent Q Elements Logical test assesses your inductive reasoning abilities  and capability to work with new and unfamiliar information to find a solution. 

The assessment is based on Raven's Progressive Matrices Test. You will be presented with an incomplete series of symbols that follows a logical sequence. You will need to choose the missing symbol in the sequence out of up to 14 options.

The test has 12 questions to answer in 75 seconds each.

 

  • Talent Q Elements – Numerical

The Talent Q Elements Numerical test assesses your  numerical reasoning abilities and your capacity to understand and analyze numerical data.

You will be presented with tables containing numerical information. You will need to interpret and calculate the data and choose the correct answer.

The test has 12 questions, and though there is no overall time limit, there is a time limit for every question; 90 seconds for the first one and 75 seconds for subsequent questions.

 

  • Talent Q Elements – Verbal

The Talent Q Elements Verbal test assesses your verbal reasoning abilities and capacity to understand, interpret, and draw conclusions from written information. 

You will be presented with a written paragraph of a professional nature, and you will need to answer a multiple-choice question regarding the text.

The test has 15 questions, and though there is no overall time limit, there is a time limit for every question; 75 seconds for the first one of each passage of text, and 60 seconds for subsequent questions.

Talent Q Aspects

The Talent Q Aspects is a set of aptitude tests that assesses your performance under a strict time limit. The tests are adaptive, which means that the question varies in difficulty, and if you answer correctly, the next question will be harder. If you answer incorrectly, the next question will be easier.

This test is often used for sales and customer service recruitment.

 

  • Talent Q Aspects – Checking

The Talent Q Aspect Checking test assesses your ability to compare between detailed numbers and codes and check if they are identical or different.

You will be presented with tables containing two sets of information. You will need to verify if each table has the same information.

The test has 8 questions to answer in 6 minutes.

 

  • Talent Q Aspects – Numerical

The Talent Q Aspects Numerical test assesses your ability to understand numerical data and apply mathematical methods to solve problems.

You will be presented with tables containing numerical data. You will need to interpret and analyze the information and choose the correct answer.

The test has 12 questions to answer in 10 minutes.

 

  • Talent Q Aspects – Verbal

The Talent Q Aspects Verbal test assesses your ability to read and interpret textual information and make inferences. 

You will be presented with a passage of text. You will need to answer a multiple-choice question regarding the information within the text.

The test has 12 questions to answer in 8 minutes.

Talent Q Dimensions

The Talent Q Dimensions assessment is a personality questionnaire that evaluates your traits and behaviours through three domains –

  • People and Relationships – your style in work-related relationships, how comfortably you communicate with others, and the extent to which you are supportive and effective when engaging with others.
  • Tasks and Projects – your thinking style and task-managing preferences – analyzing information, organizing your work, etc.
  • Drives and Emotions – your way of dealing with emotions and energies – how you cope with stressful situations, how adaptive you are to new situations, and what drives you to perform at work.

You will be presented with a series of work-related statements. You will need to rate each statement, according to how true you feel that it is for you, on a scale of ‘completely untrue’ to ‘very true’.

If you give the same rating to multiple statements within a question, you will need to re-rank those statements compared to each other.

The test has 13 questions with no time limit.

Talent Q Cultural Appraiser

The Talent Q Cultural Appraiser is a Situational Judgment Test that predicts how well you will fit into the role you are applying for and cooperate with the organization’s environment and culture.

You will be presented with a series of workplace scenarios similar to those you could encounter on your job, followed by several possible reactions and action methods. You will need to choose which option is most effective and which is the least effective.

There are two test versions – one with text only and the other accompanied by a video.

Both versions of the test have 15 questions.
