The hiring process at XING

  • You will need to apply online. You must include an updated CV as well as a well-written cover letter. You have to impress the recruiter so that you get called for an interview. Make sure you include relevant keywords in your CV and that you learn a little about the company. Your cover letter should let them know why you'd like to work at XING of all places. Don't forget to include your strengths and what really stands out about you regarding the position. Your CV shouldn't just be a list of your career to date, it should also include details of your duties and responsibilities.
  • If you've made it through to the shortlist, your first interview will be conducted on the phone. You'll also have an opportunity to ask them any questions about XING. If all goes to plan during that interview, you'll be invited to attend one or two additional interviews. You'll meet your future superior as well as a few future colleagues. This, in turn, gives you an opportunity to decide whether you think you'd fit in well at XING. If you're not from Hamburg or are even abroad, we can organize an interview via Skype, so you don't have to visit the office.

What can I expect during my interview?

Almost every business unit will ask you to take a Predictive Index assessment so that they can find out a little bit more about you as a person. They’ll send you a link to the assessment, so you can complete it before attending your interview. Depending on the job group, you may also be asked to bring some samples of your work with you or to complete a task. Technical positions also often include prototyping and pair programming tasks.

The Predictive Index Assessments at XING

The Predictive Index Assessment has several components to it:

  • The Predictive Index Learning Indicator (PI Learning Indicator) is used to measure your cognitive ability or your capability to learn and adapt in the workplace. The test consists of 50 questions which need to be completed within 12 minutes and includes the following topics: Numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning.
  • The Predictive Index (PI) Behavioural Assessment is used by employers to help predict workplace performance, as candidates' responses on the PI indicate their behavioural propensities. The assessment comprises two pages, each of them includes 86 adjectives. The assessment is untimed, but it generally takes no more than 10 minutes to complete.
