The Cognitive Ability Test

This test is similar to many psychometric tests and evaluates applicants’ general intelligence. It is considered to be an accurate prediction of job candidates’ aptitude for the role and future performance in the new workplace. There are several parts into which the Cognitive Aptitude Test is divided. You can have questions covering these categories: numerical, verbal, abstract, spatial, and mechanical reasoning.

Aiming to construct applicants’ precise intellectual profile, the test offers them a choice of answers to every question. Your task is to choose the right answer among several wrong options. The types of questions posed on the Cognitive Ability Test vary. They can focus on numbers, words, sequences, charts, diagram, shapes, and tables. A time given to complete the test is strictly limited. You will have about half of the minute to answer each question. So strictly limited in time, you cannot come to your assessment at SANLAM without preliminary preparation. Coming to your examination unprepared will only lead to failure. SANLAM’s Interview Preparation and Hiring Process

After you have applied online, you will receive a phone call from the company. In your phone conversation with two recruiters, you will talk about your education, working experience, and career ambitions. Expect also technical questions, if your job involves working with technology. If SANLAM’s representatives find your candidacy interesting, they will invite you to take one of the online tests. You may be required to complete either Cognitive Ability Test or Technical Test, or both. Before you write your technical test, brush up your knowledge of XML and other codes. The next stage is in-person interview in one of the company’s locations. Frequently, this interview is conducted in the form of a panel: you will need to answer questions of several recruiters simultaneously. Be prepared also to illustrate your answers with examples taken from your previous work experience. After the recruiters have gauged the compatibility of your professional goals and those of the company, you may be offered a job position.
