SADC Reasoning Tests

Depending on the job and profession you are seeking, you may encounter a pre-hire maths test. These are also known as numerical reasoning tests, quantitative reasoning tests, or simply a numerical test. This is the most common type of aptitude test applicants can face. Test takers are assessed on their ability to understand and make decisions based on numerical data. The exam may be administered as part of an online job application, at the job site, or during an interview.

Verbal reasoning tests examine you on a range of English skills. These skills can be broken down into the following groups: Vocabulary, Grammar, Comprehension, and Critical Reasoning.

The abstract reasoning test are also known as inductive or diagrammatic reasoning and assess general intellect rather than text book knowledge.

SADC Assessment Centre Information

During the SADC assessment centre you will participate alongside numerous other applicants in several job simulations, group exercises, aptitude tests, and one-on-one interviews. Bear in mind that you are not only being evaluated on job-specific skills and abilities, your non-verbal disposition and interpersonal skills will also be observed.

How are Verbal Reasoning Tests Scored?

Like other aptitude tests, the Verbal Reasoning Test does not have a passing score. This does not mean, however, that you cannot fail your exam. Quite the contrary, sometimes, even if you answer correctly most of given questions, you may be told that you have done badly. The reason for this stems from a peculiar system used to score applicants’ results on the Verbal Reasoning Test. When you take this test, your scores are compared to a benchmark that includes scores of other job candidates competing for similar positions in a similar field. This scoring method allows employers to evaluate your verbal skills in relation to other employees working in the position for which you applied. Such scoring may place you at a decided disadvantage, even if you answer most of the questions on the test correctly. If other job candidates with whom you are compared get more questions right, your score will be considered lower than average, no matter how few mistakes you made.

Are There Different Variations of the Situational Judgement Tests?

Yes, the test does come in multiple forms, such as computer or paper based. SADC might only use text, while others throw pictures and video clips into the mix. Still other versions might use computer-generated avatars to create a scenario, to which you must respond usually textually. It is important to note that the SJT are usually not timed, it is important to answer them in a timely and accurate manner and watch for guidelines like “this question should take 10 minutes.”
