Old Mutual Recruitment Process

To successfully begin your Old Mutual career, you must pass all stages of Old Mutual's hiring process. After making sure your CV clearly demonstrates your relevance to your desired position, submit your application. This will start the application process. Next, a recruiter will contact you and invite you to a competency-based assessment. If you pass, you will then be asked to participate in further interviews and to complete aptitude tests. Each of the hiring process stages is explained in more detail below.

Old Mutual Interview

If you achieve good results on the Old Mutual’s tests, you will meet with its representatives. In your face-to-face interview, you will be asked questions about your prospective role and plans for the future. If you are competing for a position involving technology, be sure to go over technical questions relevant to your field of expertise, before you arrive for the interview. Your prospective managers will also ask you situational questions. To answer this type of questions, recollect a specific problematic situation that you solved in the past, in your former workplace. Tell your interviewers what goals you set for yourself to resolve the situation, what actions you took and what results you achieved. Many recruiters evaluate candidates’ answers to situational questions on a scale from 1 to 5. If you follow the STAR method, you will convey your answers more effectively.

Old Mutual Assessment Centre

The assessment centre, which takes place on site, includes groups of candidates and may take a couple of hours or days to complete. The exercises are divided into different sections, which are designed to assess how you work both in teams and individually. In the first section, the group will be assigned to a business case, in which they must work together to solve. In the second section, you will solve a business case individually. During the last stage, you will be invited to a competency-based interview.

How Are Old Mutual Tests Scored?

Old Mutual aptitude tests are usually comprised of multiple-choice questions. The possible marks for each question are correct, incorrect and unanswered. When you submit an Old Mutual aptitude test, your answers are first measured against the correct answers. Then, your correct answers are counted and the rate of correct answers is calculated.

How Long Does Old Mutual Hiring Process Take?

The hiring process for your dream career depends on the number of tasks you have to fulfil. Typically, hundreds, if not thousands of candidates are applying for the same job. Whilst most of them are filtered out through the use of online tests, that still leaves many who have to go through face to face assessments and interviews. Online tests and automatic application screening typically take no more than a week. However, you will only know if you have got through to the next stage of the application process once the job posting has been closed. The company will normally take a further month to come up with a shortlist of candidates who should attend interviews and assessment centres. These assessment centres usually take place in the first three months of the year and you get the results typically about a week or two afterwards. Therefore, the entire process can take up to six months.
