About Mashreq PrepPacks™

During the recruitment process, you'll be asked to take a number of different Mashreq tests. You are asked to complete these tests online. These tests are in general provided by CEB SHL. To successfully move on to the next stage of the hiring process, utilise JobTestPrep's comprehensive preparation packages to give yourself the best chance of success.

Mashreq CEB SHL-Style Numerical Reasoning Online Tests

Numerical Reasoning Test evaluates how well applicants draw conclusions and inferences from numerical and statistical data. You will need to demonstrate that you can work with numerical information, if you want to be hired for positions requiring numerical reasoning ability. These positions most often belong to the fields of finance, informational technology, professional services, production, and sales. The test measures job candidates’ numerical reasoning ability by asking them to answer 18 questions grouped in 6 sets. Each group contains 3 questions about certain graphs or charts, answers to which you will need to choose from several options given below the questions. There will be no questions unrelated to graphs or charts. A time limit allowed for the test is 25 minutes, though it is possible to complete the test earlier. You may be required to retake the test, when you are invited to a company’s assessment center.

Mashreq CEB SHL-Style Verbal Reasoning Online Tests

This CEB SHL-style test, called Verify verbal reasoning test, contains ten passages, each passage followed by three arguments, a total of 30 arguments. These arguments are either True or False, based on the information in the passage, or that it cannot be determined if they are one of the two, without further information (Cannot Say option). To answer all the questions, the candidate will have 19 minutes. This verbal reasoning test assesses the candidate's reading comprehension capabilities: logical thinking, verbal deduction, and vocabulary. While taking the tests the candidate will improve all these aspects of verbal reasoning.

Mashreq Inductive Reasoning Tests

In this test you are presented with a row of figures consisting of lines, shapes, arrows, etc. You need to identify the underlying pattern of that sequence and choose the figure that would come next in the series from the available options. This type of question is highly prevalent in CEB’s SHL inductive tests, but it is possible (though not probable) to encounter other types of questions as well. For instance, you may be presented with a matrix of shapes missing a piece and be asked to identify the missing piece from the available options.

Mashreq CEB SHL OPQ-Style Online Tests

The Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) assessment was designed to give organizations an understanding of how aspects of an individual's behavioral style will affect his or her performance at work.

Mashreq Situational Judgement Tests

The scenarios presented on SJTs always ask for a resolution of a given conflict which, although being hypothetical, might very much rely on, or represent, realistic situations that occur in a workplace. You will then be asked to choose a preferred method of action out of a number of possible options. You are encouraged to choose your responses spontaneously, based on intuition; however, analysing the scenarios and choosing responses that highlight your skills will allow you to better present yourself on the test.

Mashreq Microsoft Office Tests

The Microsoft Office assessment is usually comprised of several different tests, but it most commonly involves a Microsoft Excel test accompanied by a Microsoft Word test. Sometimes you will encounter a typing test as well. These tests often come in two different difficulty levels — basic and intermediate-advanced. Each test, regardless of its difficulty level, contains topics involving both fundamental skills as well as more sophisticated ones. What sets these tests apart is the number of questions relating to each level of Microsoft Office skills.

Mashreq Interview

In this stage, your Mashreq interviewers are looking for you to give examples from your previous experience to back up your answers. Thus, ahead of the interview, review your CV and prepare a list of examples that can be used to demonstrate your skills against the competencies Mashreq is looking for. Our Interview PrepPack™ can help you excel during the interview stage of Mashreq's recruitment process.

Mashreq Assessment Centre

The Mashreq assessment day is either a half day or full day event, depending on the role you have applied for. Your invitation to the assessment centre will list the types of activities you will have to complete as part of the day. These can be presentations, role-plays, interviews, case studies, and aptitude tests. Besides for the actual assessment you will also have the chance to meet employees of the company and assess the company culture. You can learn about what you can expect as an employee and the values of the company.

Frequently Asked Questions by Mashreq Applicants

How to Select the Correct Response in My Mashreq SJT?

Read each of the given scenarios and each possible response carefully before answering. Though one answer choice may seem appropriate, there may be another one which is more sensible. If the question asks you to rank the responses, compare them to each other. However, keep in mind that all the responses may be effective, or they may all be ineffective - your task is to rank the responses, not decide if they are right or wrong.

What is the Mashreq CEB SHL Numerical Reasoning Online Tests?

The CEB SHL numerical test contains questions in a psychometric format that need to be completed in 25-35 minutes. In this test, you are presented with numerical data in the form of a table or a graph, followed by multiple-choice questions relating to them. Answering the questions often requires you to show basic math aptitude and to perform calculations involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and conversions. The CEB SHL assessment score is comparative, relative to all the other examinees, and, as such, the scores are distributed in the bell-curve style. Only those candidates who assessment score in the highest percentile of the curve will move on to the next stage of the recruitment process.

What is the Mashreq Telephone Interview?

This is often a preliminary interview. These questions are essentially competency-based questions. The interviewers are looking for you to provide examples of where you have displayed these competencies in the past. The telephone interview has some advantages over a regular interview - you can wear comfortable clothing, and keep your answers written out in front of you, but it can also contain the same pressure as an interview when it comes to answering questions.

How Long does Mashreq Hiring Process Take?

The hiring process depends on the number of tasks you have to fulfil. Typically, there are hundreds, if not thousands of candidates are applying for the same job. Whilst most of them are filtered out through the use of online tests, that still leaves many who have to go through face to face assessments and interviews. We can make some generalisations though. Online tests and automatic application screening typically takes no more than a week. However, you will only know if you have gotten through to the next stage of the application process once the job posting has been closed. The company will normally take a further month to come up with a shortlist of candidates who should attend interviews and assessment centres. These assessment centres usually take place in the first three months of the year and you get the results typically about a week or two afterwards. We can, therefore, say that the entire process can take up to six months.

How can I Succeed in Case Study Exercise on Mashreq Assessment Day?

"Delve into" the case study. Reflect your thoughts as the character you were assigned to, and address the corresponding characters you have been asked to report to.

The test demands time management, prioritisation and distinction between important and peripheral. Case study exercises are usually designed to have more than one 'correct' answer; as long as you logically justify your recommendations and they stand up to questioning by the assessor, then your analysis can be regarded in a positive light.

Don't spend too much time trying to learn the nuances of a particular industry. Focus instead on tackling common challenges faced by most businesses. But don't hesitate to clarify pertinent questions, as listening to clients is just as important as advising them.

Remember, this is a real client case, so you want to establish the needs of the clients before you can give advice! Be confident but not arrogant. When presenting, one must give off the notion that one is speaking with an air of knowledge and authority. However, no one likes it when this turns into over confidence. If this happens, one might end up not listening and missing vital cues from the questioner, and of course clients won't like this either. Even though you are working against the clock, take the time to analyse the situation before attempting to make notes or answer the questions.
