About Mako PrepPacks™

Mako's recruitment process is rigorous, but with extensive practice, you can improve your chances of being selected to work there. Start preparing yourself now for your upcoming aptitude tests and interviews with JobTestPrep

Mako Numerical Test

Depending on the job and profession you are seeking, you may encounter a pre-hire maths test. These are also known as numerical reasoning tests, quantitative reasoning tests, or simply a numerical test. This is the most common type of aptitude test applicants can face. Test takers are assessed on their ability to understand and make decisions based on numerical data. The exam may be administered as part of an online job application, at the job site, or during an interview.

Mako Verbal Reasoning

Verbal ability—namely, comprehension, vocabulary, and interpretation—can be improved through practice. Simply taking practice tests and gaining exposure to the types of questions you will experience on the real test can relax you, improve your confidence, and increase your speed and accuracy. The key elements to keep in mind when preparing for a verbal reasoning test are as follows:

  • Accuracy in answering questions
  • The speed at which you answer (most verbal reasoning tests are time limited)
  • Understanding the passage and how to answer the questions

Mako Situational Judgement Tests

When answering a question on an SJT, try to imagine yourself at work, and answer the questions accordingly. This is quite important since we all act and react differently inside and out of the workplace. When taking a situational judgment test, you want to answer as your 'work self'—the logical, reasonable, mature version of yourself.

Mako Personality Tests

Those who administer personality assessment tests claim there are no "right" or "wrong" answers and often refer to personality tests as personality "questionnaires" instead of "tests." This is untrue. A personality assessment serves as a tool to help find the person who fulfil the criteria of a specific position. Therefore, there are right and wrong answers associated with specific positions. Preparing for the personality test in advance will allow you to become well-acquainted with the types of questions asked and what the optimal answers are.

Mako Microsoft Word Tests

The Microsoft Word test measures your ability to complete tasks in Microsoft Word software. The test is entirely interactive, attempting to simulate how Word is used in the workplace. The test is aimed at applicants for jobs that require the use of Word at its fullest capacity. On this test, you will be asked to perform more complex tasks, such as mail merges, advanced formatting, and using templates and tables.

Mako Microsoft Excel Assessments

A basic level Excel assessment test aims to evaluate your abilities to use this software for everyday office tasks. Most of the questions deal with basic formatting, standard tables and basic commands, such as saving and printing properties. You will also be required to know how to define a cell reference, filter and sort data, and manage the page layout.

The advanced level test requires a candidate to master the different features of the software. Most of the questions will deal with formulas, macro creation, advanced formatting, and document properties.

Mako Abstract Reasoning

Abstract reasoning requires an ability to draw assumptions and conclusions based on information supplied in the form of symbols or matrices. In such tests, you will be asked to identify a missing item or diagram that complete a certain pattern of logic, usually in the form of a matrix.

Frequently Asked Questions by Mako Candidates

What Skills Do Mako Verbal Tests Measure?

verbal reasoning tests examine you on a range of English language skills. These skills can be broken down into the following groups: Vocabulary, Grammar, Comprehension, and Critical Reasoning. Vocabulary assessments test your understanding of the words that are used in your line of work. This is measured through various assessments, such as mixed sentences tests, complete the sentence tests, spelling tests, and more. Grammar tests examine your understanding of English grammar and your ability to recognise good or bad grammar. Grammar is measured through questions that ask you to complete a sentence or identify the correct next sentence in a paragraph.

Comprehension tests are designed to measure your ability to understand written information, analyse it, and interpret what you have read to answer questions. Critical Reasoning tests measure how you analyse the information in front of you. In the context of verbal reasoning tests, critical reasoning tests require that you identify whether a statement is true or false based on the information provided, or whether the information provided is not sufficient enough to come to a conclusion.

What Skills Do Mako Numerical Tests Measure?

Numerical reasoning tests are designed to look at the range of skills and abilities needed to perform almost any job. Basic maths or computations skills, such as the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), percentages, and ratios, to name a few, are all needed on a daily basis. Being able to understand and analyse graphs and other numerical data is necessary for many graduate and management positions. If you work in the finance or banking sector, financial reasoning skills are a must. As part of the hiring process, technical jobs often require applicants to have speed and concentration when working with numerical data. Critical reasoning is necessary for many high-level positions, while estimation skills are also a big advantage in many jobs.

What is the Mako's Face to Face Interview?

There are several different types of questions you may face during your interviews. Most interviews consist of competency-based questions, but some include job-related questions, maths problems, or riddles. You can also expect to be asked about your CV and your motivation regarding the position for which you are applying. To help you prepare for your interview and other assessments, we have created a unique preparation pack with all the resources you need. The pack features a detailed interview guide written by our accredited psychologists. This guide covers various aspects of interviews and offers important tips. It discusses, among other things, competency-based questions and how to use the STAR method when answering them. It also provides advice on how to answer common interview questions. How Long does Mako Hiring Process Take?

The hiring process depends on the number of tasks you have to fulfil. Typically, there are hundreds, if not thousands of candidates are applying for the same job. Whilst most of them are filtered out through the use of online tests, that still leaves many who have to go through face to face assessments and interviews. We can make some generalisations though. Online tests and automatic application screening typically takes no more than a week. However, you will only know if you have gotten through to the next stage of the application process once the job posting has been closed. The company will normally take a further month to come up with a shortlist of candidates who should attend interviews and assessment centres. These assessment centres usually take place in the first three months of the year and you get the results typically about a week or two afterwards. We can, therefore, say that the entire process can take up to six months.

How Long Does Mako Assessment Day Last?

Assessment centres usually consist of a four to eight-hour schedule over one or two days, although, in some rare cases, they may last for three days. The exact schedule for each employer varies for the simple reason that every company does things its own way.
