Working for HSE Ireland

If you are interested in taking up one of the many rewarding roles being offered by HSE Ireland, you would be wise to prepare for their recruitment process. Regardless of the position, you will be applying for at HSE Ireland, the hiring process may include:

  • Application Process: To apply for one of the many HSE jobs you will need to visit the HSE jobs search webpage. Afterward, you will need to read the Application Details section of the job description page for specifications in completing the application process for the position you have selected. Some roles may require a direct email to the formal contact listed with the job description while others will require an email to the department you are applying to.
  • Follow-Up Email: Once your application and CV have gone through the initial screening process you may receive a follow-up email inviting you to come in for one or more rounds of personal interviews.
  • Personal Interviews: Depending on the role you have applied for within the HSE, you may need to participate in several face-to-face interviews. These interviews will either be held one-on-one or before a hiring panel and include behavioural and competency-based questions.
  • Employment Exam: Regardless of the position you have applied for within the Department of Health you may be required to take a pre-hire entrance exam. The test or tests you will be required to take will be determined by the role you are pursuing within HSE. Your entrance exam may come before or after your personal interviews.
  • Offer of Employment: Once you have successfully passed each of the previous steps in the HSE recruitment process you will receive an offer of employment.
  • Garda Clearance: Prior to taking on any of the responsibilities necessary for fulfilling your new role within HSE, you will need to pass the Garda Clearance process.

Some roles may require participation in an assessment centre. During an assessment centre you will meet with many other applicants to participate in group role-plays, aptitude testing, and face-to-face interviews. Assessment centres make it easier for the HSE recruitment team to fills spot in their graduate and internship programmes.
