HP Graduate Scheme

The HP Graduate Scheme is a very varied scheme that offers numerous options for candidates coming from many different fields. Entry onto the HP Graduate Scheme requires you to have a minimum of a 2.1 degree. The scheme allows trainees to experience many sides of the business and provides a good grounding for those wishing to embark on a career at HP.

The first part of the process is the HP Online Application Form. This is your chance to shine so make sure you take your time when filling this in to improve your chances of standing out from the crowd.

If your application is successful they will arrange for you to take part in a telephone interview.

HP Telephone Interview

The HP Telephone Interview is mostly a competency based interview. They are trying to determine if you have the general skills and competencies to fit into the company. You can practice telephone interviews using the materials JobTestPrep provides. If you are successful, you will be invited to attend the HP Assessment Centre.

HP Assessment Centre

The HP Assessment Centre follows on after the HP Telephone Interview. At the HP Assessment Centre you will be assessed on numerous activities. The activities will include:

Group Exercises

At the HP Assessment Centre you may be faced with one or two group exercises. One may involve a problem solving exercises and the other may need you to plan an event. The purpose is not necessarily to get the correct result, but instead show that you are confident, you listen to others and that you are a team player. You can get further guidance on group exercises with JobTestPrep's preparation materials by clicking here.

The HP Interview is your opportunity to shine. The interview is with two assessors and is quite informal. You should expect to be asked some competency based questions, similar to what was included in the application form. They may also throw in some more random questions, such as:

  • "How would your friends describe you?"
  • "What makes you angry?"

There are no right or wrong answers to these kinds of questions but you should expect them and be prepared for this eventuality JobTestPrep has Interview preparation materials and they can be found by clicking here.

You be asked to make a presentation. The presentation should be short, around 5 minutes and it is recommended that it be on something that you can talk about confidently. Perhaps it can be on a piece of work that you did and its outcome. Maybe you could discuss the reasons to why it was a successful piece of work. JobTestPrep has materials to help you prepare for a presentation.

Ability tests

HP Ability tests are likely to involve a numerical reasoning test and a verbal reasoning test depending on the role which you have applied for. You can also practice these with JobTestPrep by clicking here.

The most important advice that we can give you is that you should prepare well and just enjoy yourself. They are not trying to catch you out. They want you to be friendly and be confident and by doing this, it will greatly enhance your chances of success. Good Luck!
