Hertz CEB SHL-Style Reasoning Tests

In the numerical test, you will encounter numerical data in the form of a table or a graph, followed by multiple-choice questions relating to them. Answering the questions often requires you to show basic math aptitude and to perform calculations involving fractions, percentages, ratios, and conversions.

For the CEB SHL verbal test, you will read short passages of text and answer questions relating to each passage. Each question will require you to quickly evaluate whether a statement is true, false, or indeterminable based on the text.

In the CEB SHL logical reasoning test, you must determine what comes next in a series of objects in a limited amount of time. Answering the questions often requires detecting patterns in colours, shapes, and movements of figures.


Microsoft Excel Assessments

A basic level Excel assessment test aims to evaluate your abilities to use this software for everyday office tasks. Most of the questions deal with basic formatting, standard tables and basic commands, such as saving and printing properties. You will also be required to know how to define a cell reference, filter and sort data, and manage the page layout.

The advanced level test requires a candidate to master the different features of the software. Most of the questions will deal with formulas, macro creation, advanced formatting, and document properties.

Should I Choose "Strongly Agree/Disagree" or "Agree/Disagree in Hertz Personality Assessment Tests?"

There are different kinds of questions found on personality assessment tests. When given a statement with extreme statements such as "always" and "never," you should answer them with less extreme answers such as "agree" and "not strongly agree." However, there are times during a personality test in which you should choose "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree." You should choose "strongly agree" when the following types of questions are asked:

    • Most people are honest by nature.
    • Most people can be trusted.
    • Very few people steal at work.
    • I cannot remember the last time I lost my temper at work.
    • I rarely worry about how well I'm doing my job.

You should choose strongly disagree when asked the following types of questions:

  • It is human nature to steal from others.
  • Most people cannot be trusted.
  • Sometimes my co-workers annoy me.
  • I sometimes worry about losing my job because of office politics.
  • Sometimes I don't feel able to handle all my work responsibilities.

What is the Hertz Telephone Interview?

This is often a preliminary interview. These questions are essentially competency-based questions. The interviewers are looking for you to provide examples of where you have displayed these competencies in the past. The telephone interview has some advantages over a regular interview - you can wear comfortable clothing, and keep your answers written out in front of you, but it can also contain the same pressure as an interview when it comes to answering questions.
