Flybe likes to keep things simple. If you are successful at screening, you will be invited to attend a recruitment day. Recruitment days consist of group exercises, Maths and English tests and individual interviews. A typical process looks as follows:
‘Ice-breaker task’ – here you will be given certain exercises for you to help get to know your fellow candidates – it really helps to make the day go a lot smoother if you make a couple of friends along the way.
The next half an hour to an hour will consist of solo and group exercises.
After these group exercises you will be led through to a room and given a talk about the history of the company. You will also be given a brief rundown of what it is like to work for them and what kind of benefits and salary expectations will be realistic for you.
During your assessment day you will also be asked to sit an examination which aims to test your knowledge as well as your use of English and grammar – so it’s worth brushing up on anything you’re not sure of beforehand.
Preparing for Flybe’s Tests
You will be required to take and pass the Predictive Index Tests. These consist of the Predictive Index Learning Indicator as well as the Predictive Index Behavioral Assessment.
The Predictive Index Learning Indicator (PI LI) is a 12-minute test comprised of 50 questions. The purpose of the PI LI assessment is to measure your cognitive ability or your capacity to learn and adapt in the workplace. The test includes three topics: Numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning.
The Predictive Index (PI) Behavioral Assessment measures four primary characteristics of personality: dominance, extroversion, patience, and formality. From the view of prospective employers, the goal in administering a PI Behavioral Assessment is predicting workplace performance, and candidates' responses on the PI indicate behavioural propensities. There are two pages on the assessment, each containing a list of 86 adjectives, and the assessment is untimed.
You will also be required to pass an English test. This test is used to assess candidates for jobs where a good grasp of both written and spoken English is necessary. This assessment can cover general language skills but can also be focused on a certain field, such as technical or medical roles where specific vocabulary is necessary.
Traditional Interview Questions
The many questions during your interview process are there, primarily, to assess your people skills and the common questions are:
Do you prefer to work independently or on a team?
Why are you the best person for the job?
Name a time you had to deal with someone you disagree with?
