The Tests at Engen Petroleum 

The hiring process is composed of two parts. The interviews and the tests. You may be given very specific tests, depending on what have you applied for as well as the general tests. These are aimed at testing general skills and your general understanding and they may include the following tests:

  • The Numerical Comprehension Test which measures your knowledge of basic mathematics, interpretation of data from tables, graphs, and charts, and your critical reasoning. It requires you to show that you are comfortable with numbers, can calculate percentages, fractions, and proportions, and understand such concepts as inflation and rebasing. The Numerical Comprehension Test is a multiple-choice assessment, giving applicants a choice between four or six alternative solutions. The test has 30 questions, which you are required to answer within 30 minutes.
  • The Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT) which is a general pre-employment aptitude test that measures your problem-solving abilities, skill learning capabilities, and critical thinking. It consists of 50 questions, has a 15-minute time limit, and is comprised of three question categories—math and logic, verbal ability, and spatial reasoning.

 The Interviews at Engen Petroleum 

The interview portion of the hiring process is aimed to test your reactions and answers and to assess your skillfulness and your personality. You may be given a case study to discuss with the interviewer. You will discuss a business problem, and you are asked to analyze the situation, identify key business issues, and discuss how you would address the problems involved. This type of interview tests your analytical and problem-solving skills. The aim is to demonstrate your approach, not the actual solution. You can also come across some of these questions during the interview.
