The Devon and Somerset fire and rescue service covers three main areas: Somerset, Central and Western Devon. This is a large area covering over 1.6 million people. In all there are close to 90 separate fire stations and they aim to respond to any emergency within 10 minutes.
Like other fire and rescue services, there is no fixed time for Devon and Somerset fire brigade recruitment. They recruit only when they need to, and this may happen only every couple of years. There are more opportunities if you wish to be a retained/ on-call firefighter. However, competition for these spaces is high so it is worthwhile to be fully prepared and ready to grab your chance when the opportunity arises.
