Bus Eireann Hiring Process

The main steps in the Bus Eireann recruitment process are:

  • Online Application: Make sure that your CV is well-written and updated, and send it to the job you are interested in.
  • Phone Conversation: The HR manager will call you, or you will get an email to schedule an onsite interview.
  • Exams: You could be asked to sit several tests.
  • Onsite Interview: There might be a panel interview with senior managers.
  • Assessment Centre: if you are invited for an assessment day, you will participate in various group activities. Also, you might be interviewed, and asked to take tests. The advantage here is that the interviewers get a bigger picture of the candidates, so they can decide who is suitable for the role and workplace.

Bus Eireann’s Aptitude Tests

The required assessments depend on the applied role. They could be some, or all, of the following:

  • SJT: The situational judgment test asks you how you would solve different types of conflicts. That way, your decision-making and problem-solving are viewed.
  • Personality: True/False statements and similar questions that assess your characteristics, behaviour and other work-related traits.
  • Verbal Reasoning: Examines your vocabulary, spelling, grammar, reading comprehension and text analysis.
  • Abstract Reasoning: Examines your general intellectual potential.
  • Logical: Consists of abstract, diagrammatic and inductive reasoning tests.
  • Mathematical Reasoning: Evaluates your quantitative skills.
  • Excel: Tests your level and knowledge in Microsoft Excel.

Note that these assessments usually resemble a psychometric test, are limited in time and composed of multiple-choice questions. Therefore, it would be wise to study in advance.
