BMO’s Hiring Process

There are many stages in the BMO hiring process regardless of the role you are pursuing. These stages will often include:

  • Application Process: Once you have selected an available position from the BMO jobs page, you will be prompted to create a new user account to finish the application process and upload your CV.
  • Phone Interview: The next stage in the BMO recruitment process is the initial screening interview. This interview is generally conducted over the phone. During this interview, the representative will go over your CV, your particular skill sets, etc.
  • Online Assessments: The BMO test or tests that you will need to take prior to being considered for the vacancy in the company will be determined by the role and its requirements.
  • Assessment Centre: During an assessment centre you will meet with other candidates who are vying for the same position and participate with them in a variety of group activities. Additional pre-hire tests may also be part of an assessment centre.
  • Personal Interviews: Whether you have applied for one of the BMO internship positions or for a more experienced role, the last stage prior to being offered the job will be the in-person interview or interviews. Your personal interviews will either be held one-on-one with a hiring manager or in a group/ panel setting with several members of the management team.

BMO Talent Q Tests

The Bank of Montreal's pre-hire exam will be made up of aptitude and psychometric tests provided by Talent Q. These tests will come in one of two levels: Aspects & Elements.

The Talent Q Aspects & Elements tests evaluate candidates for their numerical, verbal, error checking, and logical skills. These tests vary in their difficulty levels so it is very important to study and familiarise yourself with their structure and answer styles prior to taking the actual exam.

JobTestPrep offers dozens of practice tests for each type of the Talent Q assessments. Our PrepPacks™ also include study guides and full answer explanations to ensure that you will take your BMO pre-hire entrance exam both confidently and knowledgeably.

BMO Interview Process

During your BMO interviews, you will be asked questions regarding your CV, transferable skills, as well as behavioural-style questions. Below is a list of questions that you are likely to be asked during this process:

  • Describe a difficult situation you had to deal with while working in a team, and how did you solve it.
  • What makes you the most suitable candidate for this role?
  • How would you handle an irate customer?

Please note that behavioural questions should be answered using the STAR interview method.
