What is Talent-Q?

Talent-Q Tests (some times misnamed Q talent) are a group of psychometric tests and the Dimensions personality test (both owned and administered by Korn Ferry).

Talent-Q tests are considered to be challenging because of their special format, which includes multiple-choice questions with a large number of answer options to choose from, a tight time frame and an adaptive testing format (adaptive tests become harder with every correct answer).

Talent-Q Dimensions tries to assess your personality, attitudes and motivations to help your future employer decide if you fit the organization.

Talent-Q psychometric tests measure and assess your ability to understand and analyze numerical, logical and verbal information.

note  Note:  Talent-Q psychometric tests, sometimes called aptitude tests, are divided into 2 groups: 1) Elements and 2) Aspects. You can read more about this below.

Most people will go through the Elements tests, which are considerably more difficult than the Aspects tests. All practice questions we offer here are of the Elements variety, but we also have a tailored Aspects PrepPack™ available.

How Are Talent-Q Tests Scored?

Your raw score in the Talent Q Elements  test is based on all the correct answers you have accumulated, while taking the difficulty level of each question into account.  

Your score is then compared to an appropriate comparison group of your would-be employer's choosing and your score will be placed in a percentile.

The score percentile is the percent of test takers in that answered as well as you and below. Your score is compared to the scores of thousands of people who took this test in the past, usually called a "norm group".

The fact you'll be compared against a norm group means that you will not only need to reach a certain number of correct answers, but also surpass your competitors' scores in order to get the job.

To better illustrate the concept of percentile score, let's say you reached the 80th percentile.

This means you've performed better than 80% of all other candidates past and present (i.e. you are part of the top 20% of performers) - good for you, there is high likelihood you will continue with your application for the job.

Talent-Q Elements Vs Aspects Tests

Talent Q has 2 series of tests, Aspects and Elements, each including 3 tests.

Aspects has: verbal, numerical, and Elements has: verbal, numerical, and logical

The verbal tests in both series assess your ability to interpret verbal information, draw conclusions and inferences, and generally comprehend written material.

The numerical tests in both series assess your ability to understand and analyze numerical data presented in tables.

The Checking section of the Aspects test measures your attention to detail by having you compare detailed numbers and codes and determine whether they are identical.

The Logical section of the Elements test measures your ability to discover abstract rules and patterns and apply them to find the continuation of a sequence.



1) Both series of tests are adaptive:

That is, the difficulty level of each question depends on your success in the previous question.

If you answer correctly, the next question will be more difficult. If you answer incorrectly, the next question will be easier.

Your score takes into account not only the number of correct answers, but also the highest difficulty level you’ve reached.


2) Time limit:

All tests have a time limit in which to complete each question. The exact time changes between tests, but you will have between 60 to 90 seconds to complete each question.


3) Similar structure for the verbal and numerical tests:

The numerical tests in both series include one or two tables depicting statistical information usually related to business, followed by 3 questions each.

The questions will require you to find the relevant information in the table and reach the answer.

The verbal tests in both series include a passage of about 3 paragraphs, followed by 3 questions each.

The questions will require you to engage with the text in a critical way and find the correct answer.



1) Target audience: who is each test for?

Aspects test are meant for entry-level jobs such as retail, apprenticeships, and customer service.

Elements test are meant for graduate roles at the very lowest, as well as for various managing positions.


2) Difficulty level:

The Aspects test has a lower difficulty level. The abilities they assess are more basic.

The Elements test, however, is considered quite difficult, even compared to other assessment tests taken by candidates for higher-level positions. The skills they require are more complex and the time constraints are respectively more pronounced.



1) Know what test you're taking: It is highly important for you to know which test you are about to take.

2) Don't waste time practising for the wrong test: If you are to take the Aspects assessment, you should not waste your time practicing Elements and arrive at the test over-prepared and overworked.

Alternately, if you are about to take the Elements assessments, you will not get sufficient preparation from Aspects practice material.



Yes, they are considered to be more difficult than most other pre-employment assessment tests.

They are considered so for 3 main reasons:

1) Talent-Q tests present you with many options from which to choose your answer (sometimes up to 30 options)

2) These test provide a very limited time frame to complete each questions.

3) These tests are adaptive - meaning they become more difficult with every correct answer.

There are 2 more reasons these tests are harder than many others:

1) They offer a lot of data to be processed (whether in tables, graphs, long text sections or noisy matrices).

2) Some questions require 2 right answers instead of 1, which means that you'll have to give extra attention to the instructions given in each question.

In adaptive tests every question may have a different level of difficulty.

The level of difficulty you will encounter will be determined by the answer you gave to the previous question.

If you answer correctly, the test will automatically increase the difficulty level. If you answer incorrectly, the test will decrease the difficulty.

This means that no two people will likely take the exact same test.

It also means that you can answer fewer questions than someone else and still get a better score, since you answered more of yours correctly.

Talent-Q test are built so that it would be very difficult to answer all questions in time.
