About ADIA

ADIA, or Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, is a sovereign wealth fund located in the UAE. The company recruits from a worldwide talent pool, with many candidates coming from the UK and US. The ADIA recruitment process can be tough, as there is a long and exhaustive assessment stage which includes a wide range of aptitude tests. Depending on the position you are applying for, you may be invited to a round of interviews as well. All successful candidates face an in-depth security check before receiving a final offer. As the testing and interview stages are the only ones you can prepare for, it is important you do so to ensure you are successful. Learn about these tests and how to succeed with our product.

The ADIA Recruitment Process

ADIA’s recruitment is carried out by Talent Q. All of your correspondence with ADIA up until the final job offer is through Talent Q. Unlike many other recruitment processes you may be used to, the ADIA tests take place at the assessment centre rather than online.

The first step in this process is filling out an online application on the ADIA website. You are asked to provide your basic details, work and academic history. You can attach a CV and covering letter as well, both of which should be tailor-made for ADIA.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to take part in the ADIA assessment day which includes aptitude tests, business simulations and interviews, all of which are detailed below.

ADIA Psychometric Assessments

There are 3 major categories of aptitude tests ADIA can ask you to take: Numerical, verbal and abstract reasoning. The specific tests you encounter depend on the position you are applying for. However, you are told in advance which tests you need to sit.

Preparation for these tests is a sure-fire way to ensure that you perform well and with confidence. Being familiar with the questions and concepts can help you show off your skills during the assessments.

ADIA Numerical Reasoning Tests

Numerical reasoning tests are more than just an assessment of your maths skills, as they look at how well you can work with numerical data. You are presented with information in the form of either a graph or chart and need to answer multiple choice questions based on the data. In answering the questions, you need to use basic mathematical functions, as well as understand ratios and percentages. Therefore, refresh your knowledge on these basic concepts. You can do this using numerical reasoning practice tests which refresh your skills and help you deal with the time constraints of a computer-based test.

ADIA Verbal Reasoning Tests

During the verbal reasoning test, each set of questions presents you with a different short text to read. Following the text, you are given a few multiple choice questions. Some questions may ask you to decide if a statement is true or false according to the information in the text. Others involve text analysis in order to select the correct answer. This means more than just understanding the language of the text but also being able to draw logical conclusions. Learn the best way to do this using verbal reasoning tests and master this assessment.

ADIA Abstract Reasoning Tests

In this exam, you are presented with an image or series of shapes that is incomplete. Your task is to choose which of the possible answers best completes the image. These tests can be tricky but with the right amount of practice, you can learn how to get through it with ease.

ADIA Business Simulation

Prepare in Advance

Before the live assessment, you are sent an email with a background scenario attached. This document is meant to be reviewed before the assessment day, as it gives important details you need to use during the business simulation. During the simulation, you are role-playing an employee from a fictitious company and are giving details about this company. The background scenario contains the following:

  • Your role- your name, your position in the company and any personal details relevant to the simulation.
  • An email from your boss.
  • Details about the fictitious company: An overview of investments, your portfolio, the company’s vision, values and financial highlights.

The information included in this packet is used throughout the assessment day, so read through it carefully and make sure you understand everything included. Print out a copy to bring with you to the assessment.

At the Assessment Centre

When you arrive at the assessment centre, you are asked to take part in one or two group discussions or exercises, in which every team member plays a role set out for them in the background scenario. Each person takes on a different role and the assessors present your group with a situation you need to resolve, while role playing your character and using the information you have been given. This information can include emails from co-workers or the boss. You are given fifteen minutes to prepare yourself and then must take part in the discussion. Remember that the recruiters need to hear you during this assessment, so make sure you speak up. Learn more about how to succeed at this stage with our dedicated group exercise page.

Interview

The ADIA interview during the assessment day is a general interview lasting up to one hour. The person conducting the interview varies according to the position, but will usually include your potential manager and a member of the recruitment staff. Interview questions can cover various topics, such as previous work experience, academic background and what you are expecting to do if hired. There are also some competency questions, such as giving an example of how you would deal with a difficult team member. Remember that interviews should be a conversation and you are encouraged to ask questions about the company and position.

Preparation can help you stay calm, cool and collected during the interview, especially if you have a few planned answers up your sleeve. Find out how to answer some common interview questions with our interview tutorial database. Looking for further guidance?
