On the morning of the exam it is best to be focused completely on the test, however, all of the smaller test day details are extremely important as well. Compiled below is a list of such details.
Test centre location and arrival: JobTestPrep recommends that you write down the name, address, and phone number of your test center and carry it with you on the morning of the exam. We recommend that the morning of the exam is not your first visit to the test center. You will be given notification from the UKCAT of your assigned test center location with adequate time before the test date. We recommend going to the test center at the time which you will be going on the actual test date and taking the route you plan to travel on the actual test date. This way you will be familiar with the route which will ensure your being on time and will minimize test date anxiety.
When should I get to the test?We recommend you arrive no later than 20 minutes before your scheduled to sit the exam so that you will have ample time to fill out necessary paperwork and to store your belongings in the lockers that will be provided to you. In the case that you are late to your test center you may be denied admittance to the test and will therefore be marked as a 'no-show'. In such case you will be required to pay an additional fee to reschedule and will not be refunded for the test date on which you were late and thereby marked as a 'no-show'.
What must I bring with me to the test? You must bring with you a print out/hard copy of the confirmation mail of your test registration sent to you by the UKCAT. As well, you will be required to provide Photo Identification. JobTestPrep would like to remind you that the full name and date of birth you provide while registering to sit the UKCAT must match that listed on your Photo Identification exactly. In the case that the two sets of information are not identical you must contact Pearson Vue within 5 days of your scheduled test date for further assistance.
Is my Photo Identification good enough?JobTestPrep recommends that if you are uncertain for any reason as to whether or not your identification will be accepted by your assigned test center that you call or Email or call the UKCAT Customer Service team as soon as possible. The Customer Service Team for the UKCAT can be reached through the following methods UKCATCustomerServices@Pearson.com or by phone at 0161 855 7409 within the UK and at +44 161 855 7409 from outside of the UK
What if I have two surnames?JobTestPrep recommends that if you have two or more surnames you register and sit your UKCAT under the same surname which you will use in you UCAS application. This will minimize any potential confusion during the application process.
What will it be like in the test room? You will be sitting the test in a room with a number of other people also sitting the test who will be starting and ending the test at different times. There may be some distraction as people enter or exit around you but you may request ear plugs if you fear this disturbance will have negative effects on your test taking ability. JobTestPrep would like to remind you that your only focus while sitting the test is the test itself. The time you have to sit the test is extremely limited, as you already know, so do not waste it looking at other test takers.
What am I supposed to do with my personal items during the test? You will not be allowed any personal items inside the test room. You will be assigned a locker in which you can store all of your personal belongings when you arrive at the test center. JobTestPrep advises that you wear layers when sitting the test as jackets, scarves, and other outerwear will not be allowed inside the test room.
Do I need to bring my calculator to the test? The UKCAT does not provide hand held calculators and you are not permitted to bring your own. Your PC will be equipped with an on screen calculator for the duration of your quantitative reasoning section. JopTestPrep highly recommends that you practice using an onscreen calculator before the day of the test to familiarize yourself with how they work. Also, JobTestPrep would like to remind you that while using the onscreen calculator you may minimize the calculator as opposed to closing it while it is not in use. Opening and closing the calculator every time you need it or finish using it will take a few seconds; these seconds will add up throughout the Quantatative Reasoning section and will cut into the total time you have to complete the section.
Do I need to bring my laptop to the test? You will be assigned a desk inside the test room. A note board and a PC will be provided to you at your assigned desk by the UKCAT.
Can I bring scrap paper to use during the test? The UKCAT will provide a laminated note board and a permanent marker for you during the test. The board is not erasable so in the event that you need another one simply raise your filled note board in the air and a new one will be delivered to you shortly. In the event that you are not provided with a note board and a permanent marker simply raise your hand and request one. JobTestPrep would like to remind you that you are permitted to have the note board and marker; however, if it is not provided to you it is your responsibility to request one. Not having one throughout the test might have negative effects on your test result and this will not be considered an extenuating circumstance by the UKCAT.
What if I need to take a break from the test?JobTestPrep would like to remind you that there are no breaks allotted during the UKCAT test. The test will not be paused for any reason. If you must take a break just raise your hand and you will be escorted out of the test room. Remember that the test will continue running while you are on a break so keep it short and begin sitting the test again as soon as possible.
