Morgan Stanley is responsible for employing over 60,000 employees in 36 countries worldwide. The three main branches of the firm are Global Wealth Management, Institutional Securities and Investment Management.
Morgan Stanley assessment process
The Morgan Stanley graduate program follows a layered process:
- The first step begins by filling an online application with a detailed CV.
- Once the application has been accepted, the applicant will be sent a request to undergo three tests: Numerical reasoning, Verbal reasoning, and Speed/Accuracy checking.
- Following the tests there will be a 45-minute long telephone interview, exploring in detail the applicant’s experience and CV. The interview may involve technical questions relating to the applicant’s experience and to the specific job he/she has applied for.
- The final step will be completed at an assessment centre and will be composed of 4 parts:
First interview - A 45-minute long technical interview, focusing on the applicant’s skills.
Second interview - Another 45 minute interview, focusing on general technical knowledge from the field of economics.
Group exercise – An exercise designed to examine the applicant’s teamwork capabilities. A case will be presented for the team’s discussion, and the interaction will be assessed.
A final personal interview focusing on the applicant’s competency.
Note: the composition of tests may vary between applicants, but no more or other tests than those detailed here will be required of you.

Morgan Stanley Numerical Test
Morgan Stanley, like many other companies, utilise verbal and numerical tests in their recruitment process. Instead of developing them in house by dedicating resources, most turn to companies specialising in developing such tests. Morgan Stanley use SHL’s tests, and JobTestPrep is well versed in such. For applications to Morgan Stanley we recommend our advanced level numerical tests, as they focus in greater detail on financial topics and represent a difficulty level that more closely mimics that of the actual test you will face.
