Candidates applying for roles within the Vacation Programme are requested to undertake the situational judgment test as a part of KPMG's selection process. The Vacation Programme is designed to help university students candidates familiarise with the types of services KMPG provides and gain some experience by joining one of its professional teams. The term of the programme is four to eight weeks depending on the business field.
KPMG's situational judgement test - what is it about?
The situational judgment test usually follows the completion of the online application form and takes about half an hour to complete. Here are some general characteristics of the test:
- A test can include somewhere between 12-20 scenarios. There is usually enough time given to answer all questions without any feeling of stress.
- It is comprised of a series of scenarios based on real work-related situations, and several possible ways for you to act one each, while you are expected to select the most appropriate and efficient solution for each scenario.
- The test can include video scenes in which actors simulate the discussed scenario in order to bring it to life and allow the test taker to imagine himself being in that situation.
- This test is designed to assess some of your working habbits, conflict management skills, conduct and behaviour, decision making and potential managerial skills, all of which are necessary factors that can affect your chances of qualification. Since each role requires different skills and competencies the test is accommodated to best reflect your qualities essential for the role.
Is there any need in preparing for the test?
Just like any job selection test, KPMG's situational judgement test can affect the way in which you are being valued by hiring managers and future supervisors. It creates a first impression of your work-related skills and habits and can also signal the employer on a wide range of traits which he should closely inspect if you actually get the job.
Our experience shows that pre-exposure to selection tests can equip the test taker with useful insights and confidence. In the case of the SJT, the added value of our practice pack lies both in the practice test and in the complete guide to SJTs that accompanies it. Our experts have created a concise and efficient guide that conveys important guidelines for behaviour within an organisation, the same behaviour that is measured by the SJT.
