The varied opportunities at British Gas make it an enticing place of work. There are more than nine programmes available to graduates alone including engineering, HR and finance. The recruitment process varies depending on the role, but typically there are four stages to the application process: application form, online tests, interview and assessment centre.
British Gas Application
You will need to fill out your basic details as well as your educational and professional history. Try and stand out by including anything that may be a bit different- British Gas receives a large volume of applications; and this could give you points of discussion for later on in the application process.
British Gas Online Tests
If your online application is successful you will usually be invited to complete a set of online tests. British Gas use Numerical Reasoning tests, Verbal Reasoning tests, Situational Judgement Tests and Personality Tests. Try and practice these tests as much as possible beforehand - you do not want to disadvantage yourself.
British Gas Interview
Depending on the role applied for you may me invited for a telephone interview, or the interview stage maybe combined with the Assessment Centre. In any case be prepared to be quizzed about your knowledge of British Gas, your motivations for applying and any anomalies in your application form. British Gas Assessment Centre
The final stage of the application process is the British Gas Assessment Centre. After a brief presentation from British Gas you may be asked to participate in any of the following activities: role play, interview, group-exercise, presentation and verification of the online ability tests.
