Each UKCAT test subset, i.e. quantitative, verbal, abstract and, decision analysis, is scored separately on a 300 to 900 scale. According to the UKCAT official website, each subset score is based on the number of correct responses a candidate made on the test, with incorrect answers being ignored. The number of correct responses is transformed into a scaled score., which is presented to candidates once they have completed the test.
Good and average UKCAT scores Universities vary in the way they regard the UKCAT scores. Some consider only the lowest score a candidate received while others compare the candidate's average with a cut-off score. Cut-off scores change every year according to the number and quality of applicants but generally speaking a score of 600-650 is considered good and a score of 650 and above is considered a very good score.
here is some data taken from the UKCAT official website, concerning average subset test scores for 2009:
- Verbal reasoning subset mean score is 582
- Quantitative subset scores are on average 638
- Abstract 607
- Decision analysis 678
- Full average score 2505
